My family and I was in chicago for the first time when I got to national at 1231am the vehicle class I reserved was not available,the office was closed the shuttle bus driver told me I have to go to Alamo counter.... I didn't rent from Alamo and my email stated that they would be open 24hr.then as I am talking to the rep on the phone one of the transport drivers almost ran over my 15yr daughter. Then looked at us like we were crazy. He didn't ask if he could help us find our car. I was charged more for what was available. ....long story short I will never rent a car national ohare ever again.

Quoted one price on paper, billed another that was twice the amount. Not happy. Not the way to treat an Executive Elite member.

Recently rented from National in Chicago, experience was good, vehicle was very clean, the selection of choices was low. The return process was very good, however there is no gas stations close to the return lot so be sure to fill up before heading to the airport on the freeway.

Traveled to O'hare airport recently, National was very easy to work with. This was my first time renting a car and they made the process very simple to understand. Efficiency at pickup & dropoff was very nice. Have already joined the Emerald isle club :)

I recently rented at ORD.

To me, National is the best hands down. They are friendly, efficient and the Emerald Isle can't be beat.

Their efficiency at drop off is always impressive. Thank you for another great experience.

I've always had a good experience with the Emerald Isle. Only drawback was I wanted a car with XM radio and the week I used National, they were in process of changing their protocol. They'll now want $6 a day for XM. OK fair enough, but none of the cars on the isle had working XM and they couldn't offer the service at any price. The changeover should have been seem less. I found one car with active XM; It conked out two days later on my way back to the airport--so all's well. I can't say enough about Ralph who was on duty at Cleveland Hopkins when I picked up my car. He was helpful in finding a car with XM and power seats. The car was a querky Chrysler 200 with a lot of electronic gizmos. Ralph familiarized me with this odd car. A Chrysler would not have been my first choice but it had what I consider critical--it worker out well and the 200 did get very good gas millage and my wife and I found the seats firm and comfortable, unusual in an American car.. National cannot have enough good employees like Ralph--he helps make up for sloppy management.and that's why the rating is a 4 and not a 5, It would have been lower without Ralph..

National is awesome. I am an Emerald club member and being able to get off the airplane and bypass the counte, pick a car and go about my business is totally awesome. Then return it to the lot they scan something and print me out a reciept and within minutes I going about my business again. I've never encountered a problem.

I am business traveler, spent literally years in rental cars, National/Enterprise huge proportion. You would think they would want to make sure I am happy and want to use them.



Well, patterns I am seeing are:

1. You would have problem induced by them or their staff.

2. You would spend significant time and inconvenience. At that point you would ask for small amend (e.g. "OK, this was not what it should have been. Can you at least help me to address it? If you can't help and need me to spend ton of my time, can you at least show goodwill and knock few dollars from admin fee so I can say you at least did SOMETHING for me?".

3. You would get responses that range from firm "no" to very unprofessional (e.g. I had customer representative that was not helpful at all, I asked him to make sure I am sent at the end of conversation to automated review system, and was then disconnected.



It is not about money - it is a principle that I spent a ton of money, and you just didn't deliver, show me that you care about my business.



There you have it - high monetary value customer perceives them as "so-so" at best. If people that you would think they care about making happy are not happy, good luck if you rarely rent.



I typically don't leave review on site, but National send me a mail of the form "please review us" after I had string of bad experiences with National and their sister company (Enterprise). OK, you wanted a review, here it goes.

National is my favorite rental company. I've always found the O'Hare staff to be helpful even though it is one of the busiest rental lots I've ever seen.

Excellent service. Used the aisle service and it was quick and fun to be able to pick our own vehicle. Return was a breeze and shuttle to airport was quick and efficient.

Rented for a quick weekend visit. First bus was full at the curb, but only waited about 5 minutes for the next one. Dropped us at Emerald Aisle, picked a car and headed to the exit. The attendant found my reservation quickly and we were on our way. LOVE Emerald Aisle!!!

The return process was very quick and easy as well. Bus drivers were friendly and helpful with everyone's bags. Great job by the employees at this location. Thanks!

Ohare National location the worst I have seen. I am an Executive Elite member and rent 2 cars/week at various locations, so have seen 2 dozen national airport locations and OHare is hands down the worst, check in people are the biggest problem, Midway is much better. Don't expect to have emerald isle car if your flight is delayed to Ohare and you arrive after midnight, they close it and bus you to Alamo where you stand in line in middle of night.

Good car selection but my bill upon return to the airport was $44 dollars greater than my internet estimate because I was 5 minutes late returning the car to the airport. After 30 minute on the phone, I was able to resolve.

My experience was less than desirable. They had offered me a daily rate that was less than the weekly rate that they had charged me (more than $50 over 4 days multiplied by the daily rate). I will not be renting from National again.

I was very pleased with my recent experience in O'Hare Airport. Frequent shuttles for quick pickup, friendly help from the driver for loading and unloading luggage, and great selection of cars with Emerald. I must also add that the pickup location at the rental parking lot was immediately next to where we returned the car, which was very convenient with luggage.
