I've rented from National all over the country. Typically they offer multiple options of clean cars and good service. This location is one of the few that has consistently dirty cars, poor selection and abysmal customer service.

O'Hare has always had an efficient operation. It worked as usual like clockwork from catching the shuttle, picking my car, checking out and the same efficiency upon my return.

I had no issues with the O'hare location - the shuttle bus came quickly, and the selection was great. I don't like the customer service experience on the phone. First, I had to call roadside assistance because the car wouldn't start. I had a meeting to get to, and it took forever for the agent to find my reservation. He had to switch between online systems and was struggling with it. We finally for a service call placed. While waiting for the technician, I got someone to jump start me. I called National again to cancel the service call. I was on hold a LONG TIME. When I got my bill, the service call was still on there. The same thing happened with the fuel option. I prepaid for fuel, and then realized that was not smart, and called customer service. They told me I needed to bring the car back full and have them remove the FSO when returning. At the return they told me 'we don't do things that way but I will do it for you'. The FSO was also still on my bill.

We arrived at the Emerald Aisle about 7:30 am. There were plenty of small/mid-size SUV's to choose from which is exactly what we were looking for. The driver dropping us off was courteous and friendly. We happened to get the same driver on the way back on Sunday (Steve). He was better than ever. Quick with joke and provided some interesting information regarding restaurant chains in our new home - Atlanta. Keep up the good work!

Wide variety of vehicles to choose from. Check-in, check-out was fast and easy. National is my first choice when renting due to the fair price and international availability of rental locations.

I was stuck at O'Hare after 2 cancelled flights in 12 hours time and needed to get home. My usual go-to for car rentals did not do one way rentals from O'Hare, so I stepped on the shuttle bus for National. Not only were the drivers helpful, but when I called to reserve they already had my information from my phone number and scheduled me immediately.

The car selection was amazing, and even though I had to drive 7 hours to get home the National car rental was the only bright spot in a very frustrating day.

AND! I was able to drop it at my regional airport, and even though the desk was not manned, I had a receipt within 2 hours in my email inbox!

Well done, National, well done.

Recent trip which was combination vacation and business, and picked up SUV at O'Hare Airport. Service was excellent and car was clean and ready to go. No problems at return. But I left my $900 camera in the car and did not realize it until it was too late to go back as still catch my flight. I submitted a lost and found request over the phone and also a 2nd one when I arrived back home over the internet. Within about a day and a half, I got a notice that the camera had been found and options for either picking it up, donating it, or having it shipped back to me. I asked for its return and the camera was very well wrapped and packaged and received in a coupe of days in great shale! Thanks national and your staff who were both honest and efficient in getting this back to me.

I find at the O'Hare airport that the cars are turned over so quickly that they don't have time to adequately clean them in-between. I frequently receive cars that have dust, ashes, smell like smoke, trash in side them, etc. The check out service at the gate is good and the selection of vehicles is good, just wish they were cleaner.

I just like National. I used to have premium membership at Hertz for a few years and I just took their lack of service for granted. My American Express card introduced me to National about an year ago and I have used them a few times since then. Every time I walk away pretty pleased and satisfied. I think I will be staying with National for a long while.

Everything worked as advertised, with easy pickup and dropoff. Only problem was that the car I picked up was the subject of a recall, and had to be replaced at the exit gate. No big problem, and handled well, but still prevents the 5-star rating.

Able to pick up the right car, the attendant was very helpful to suggest Toll Transponder and fuel service. All in all a good experience. Tested the app to do quick checkout but it was not working yet .. understandable.

Late night arrival we had to wait for a bus for about 20 minutes. National selection was good and the only service people on lot was the exit person.

Had an issue at check-in. The manager took care of it immediately with above and beyond service. No company is perfect every time and this manager's ability to handle the less than perfect situation makes them stand out from the rest.

National's Emerald Club takes all of the stress away from that transition from baggage claim to the road. My experience at O'Hare: easily located shuttle bus to rental car lot, where attendants greet the bus with verbal instructions to the cars. They escort customers who request such to the Emerald Club cars. I picked my own car, prepared the Emerald Club card, DL, CC, and car contact for the gate attendant and off I go. O'Hare is one of the busiest hubs in the nation yet the National Car Rental service was still personal, extremely efficient, and accommodating. Makes a big difference for a business traveler to a destination as buay as Chicago to have the ground transportation experience tamed to the level that I experienced at National. Really appreciate it. Gives me the confidence to put Chicago on my calendar without extra planning for ground transportation. Emerald Club makes that part easy.
