I took my Great Dane here because he had a small dog bite after a fun morning at the dog beach. The staff were friendly, the front office and patient rooms were clean. I did NOT like their procedures for evaluating your pet. A vet assistant will ask to take your pet in the back to check vitals. You are NOT allowed to be with your pet during a vitals check. I was told there are other dogs back there and your pet may possibly need to be restrained. I'm sorry but unless its surgery/horrific emergency, I would never let someone take my pet and examine him without me in the room. Especially if you've never been there before. There is no reason weight, heart rate and temp check cannot be done in front of you. I also did not like that my dog's main issue (the dog bite) wasn't evaluated first and then vitals checked. You should absolutely meet the vet who will evaluate your pet. No exceptions.

We had an emergency with our baby blue and gold macaw and this animal hospital came highly recommended by my local NWIN vet when they couldn't adequately address the problem. After driving 1+ hrs, we were seen after only a brief wait and received the undivided attention and expert perspective of Dr. Poliakoff. She examined our bird without incident (and bird owners know this to be quite a feat in itself!), and guided us to the the best course of treatment and followup observation. I would travel to them again in a heartbeat, and to those of you who squawk about the cost, they are regional experts who are worth their weight in gold... and worth whatever they want to charge!

We find all the staff and doctors at Midwest to be very helpful and concerned with their patients and clients. The emergency vets are VERY determined to help in bad situations. We've been there at 2AM on occasions with our bunny and cat and the care is excellent. If you care about your pets in an emergency, take them there. They are like your children-- you would want the best for human kids too.

"This clinic was able to help me with my chinchillas when no other clinic could. I have chinchillas that have had dental problems and broken bones that no other vet could mend or repair. Dr. Clarkson was able to help me on many occasions with the health and well being of my chins and I am eternally grateful to her!



You will spend more money here on the advanced care your pet will receive, but I found that it has been money well spent. I recommend anybody with an exotic pet within driving distance to take your pet here. I have seen MANY vets and this place has been the VERY BEST my pets have been to."

Dr. Poliakoff and the staff at Midwest are the BEST. We have 2 ferrets, one of whom became ill at a very young age. From the time we first took them there, to the time we had to put the sick one to rest (5 years), they went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our pets the best care possible. They were compassionate and caring through 2 surgeries and a few emergency visits. I would recommend them to ANYONE. I consider Dr. Poliakoff and the rest of the staff more like friends than doctors.

I have been going to these doctors and vet techs for over 15 year and they have shown the most amazing care for my parakeets and rabbits. Having such wonderful people available for emergency care is such a relief.

If I was given the option to give NO STARS, that is what I would choose. My 9 month old puppy was injured by the rehab vet during a consultation for physical therapy. I took my dog here for a consolation for physical therapy after having orthopedic hip surgery performed at my primary vet (my primary vet does not have a physical therapy division). After they kept my dog for 8+ hours for the consolation, they proceeded to try to sell me everything from chiropractic work for life to teeth cleaning. My dog was there specifically for an evaluation for 8 sessions of rehab. I was appalled at how much they tried to sell unneeded services. Vet said my dog's teeth needed cleaning. Interesting, since my dog was just at my vet 2 days before and they said he had the cleanest teeth they'd ever seen on a dog. I paid $150 for my dog to be injured during the consultation. My dog could no longer weight bear on his surgical side after the consolation was performed and for several days after. His hip was severally swollen and he was unable to use the surgical leg and had little strength on his non-surgical side after they had done whatever their consultation involved. At this point, I am still unsure if they caused permanent damage to the hip that had surgery. When asked for a refund of the consultation fee, they refused. I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY TO PROVIDE ANY SERVICES TO MY ANIMAL! I took my puppy there to build strength in his leg after his surgery, NOT to have him injured!

You guys always do a good job. This place is fantastic. I wish my family doctor would treat me like this and listen as you do. :) See you next time.

I have been to many different vets over the years and this one is the best, by far. The staff is very kind and the facility is run very well. I have referred many people here! :)

I wish it were possible to add more than 5 stars. Every experience I have here is a comforting one. I love my ferret and the hands and hearts at Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital are the only ones I would trust with him. Thank you all!

My first time here, very satisfied. They even helped with financial alternatives. Good place with great staff.

The doctor is very nice and knowledgable about what was going on with my animal. Very friendly and caring staff. I recommend that everyone with animals gives this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Our first experience was on an emergency basis in the middle of the night on Sunday on a holiday weekend. We found out that the doctor on duty was not only capable but was able to prioritize assistance to the animals. At the end of the night we felt our bunny was treated with compassion and able hands. Our comment on the way home was that if our companions really needed help Midwest would take good care of our little girl ( she's 110 years old in human years).

This practice has been a great resource for us to maintain our aging bunnies health the past three years. Our concern is to be able to have a facility that deals with exotics 24/7 and they have a number of very capable and caring veterinarians and techs on staff.

I have been to other animal hospitals and they do not compare to midwest. All of the staff are very friendly and caring. I would definitely continue to use this animal hospital in the future when and if needed.

Your staff is wonderful. I would certainly recommend Midwest to anyone seeking emergency treatment for their pet.
