Wish I could give zeros. Drive the extra distance to go to a different hospital. You’ll spend money you don’t have and your pet stands a better chance somewhere else.

Cruelty to both pet and owner!!!!!!!

Recently I was faced with the emergency situation of my daughters' beloved cat being so seriously ill that waiting until the following morning left me restless and anxious. So when Saturday morning came I was out the door and to the vet.
Upon my arrival, I instructed them that I wanted the cat to be given intravenous fluids (an obvious first choice by nearly every vet I have gone to!) but did it happen NNnnoooo, but they did inform me that a blood workup would be necessary for further diagnosis to help them treat her. I had also stated that this beloved feline looked extremely pale in and around her gums and eyes, which would later become part of the prognosis. Regardless, upon a return call with the blood analysis back I was still given the same news I knew, "she's one sick kitty" but with the treatment "we've started"and some good care she could be just fine---------BULL_ _ _ _ ! After force feeding and forced fluids, I was left watching this animal hang on for only one reason, the love of her keeper, my daughter. Eden was put to sleep the following Monday morning by my family vet, who has the kindest heart and truly understands that no one wants their pet to suffer.

Dont go here

I would be very careful about using this facility. I personally would drive over to Portland before I ever bring my animals to this establishment again.

While I had my cat there, I witnessed the vets telling these girls that there was no hope for their dog other than some ridiculous expensive operation. since the girls could not afford the operation, the hospital put the dog down. Come to find out, that there was another procedure that could have saved this dog's life. We found out about the procedure from another veterinarian. I'm not going to go into more details as I do not want to identify the other vet.

I was also told that they had enough blood to do a transfusion for my sick cat. When I got there, they only had 1 pint of real blood and the other was going to be synthetic blood. My cat's internist stated that synthetic blood is the last thing my cat needed. I would have paid about $1200 for that transfusion and it would have been a waste of time. It was while I was waiting for this "transfusion" that I saw them put this poor dog down. All they want is $$$$$$$$.

I highly recommend Emergency Vet Service on Fourth Plain instead.

I brought my dog in to be euthanized, it was all I could afford. It was late at night, there was only 1 other person there w their pet. First off, I asked about a sedative before the actual euthanasia, they looked at me like I was speaking another language. A sedative before euthanasia is common pracTice and included as part of the service in ALL other places I checked. So that cost an extra $70 (for a mild sedative). Then, I was taken to a "room", roughly 5' x7', no window, no sink, no tissue, no chairs, no couch, nothing but a rug on the floor and about 20 degrees hotter than I could bear. Then I was told they would be right back w my dog in a couple minutes while the inserted the iv. I was not allowed to be present. 15, 20 minutes in the tiny hot room, and I can hear my dog YELPING in the next room. THEN, she's brought in, I'm told take my time, to let them know when I'm ready. I get 5 minutes and in walks the vet w the injection. I was angry that my time was interrupted, and told her I wasn't ready. Once again, alone w my dog, and the vet comes AGAIN after 5 minutes. Mind u, I'm the only one in the building at this point. I have questions for the vet tho, such as, where do the dogs go for cremation, how long does it take, and how is it handled? The vet didn't know any of these answers, either did any other staff on hand. Paperwork claimed the process takes 007-12 days. My "dog" was returned in 3 days. How is that possible? I don't like having ZERO TRUST for the place that puts my dog to rest. I don't even know if the ashes ARE my dog's. Absolutely worst experience of my LIFE. IF ur on a budget, save a little more to go somewhere actually ran by humans, not robots running the place. It made my last moment w my dog, whom I ADORED for 14 years, feel like a betrayal to her on my part. Go ANYWHERE else.

DO NOT use them for private cremations they charge 120 and you get a pile of crap box. It was horrible and a total rip off. When I called to let them know my feelings they could care less. I paid 87 of that 120 for a box. It looks like it cost them 50 cents. They put a sticker with my dogs name on it. Other places give you a nice wood box for the same price. I will NEVER go back.

not as happy as I could be

I do think most of the staff is very nice and knowledgeable, but some of the vets are kind of rude. Also, I took my cat in and found out he has worms. I have 2 other cats at home and they told me they most likely had or would get them also. I asked for enough medicine to dose them all, and was told each animal had to come in for an exam before they give meds. I have known other pet owners who have received worm medication for all animals in the house (of course they paid for all the medication) but did not have to pay they exam and testing fee's for each one. I think they could work with people when it comes to something like this, especially with the economy like it is. I cannot afford a hundred dollars per animal just to find out they got worms from each other.

Best care in Vancouver

The staff at St Francis are kind and helpful. We have been taking our 3 little girls there since they were babies (2 are now over 13 years old and 1 is 10). They are treated like "family," which is greatly appreciated by us. We know we can always depend on them. Our hats off to Dr. Baker for his dedication as well as Stacy and Stephanie.THANK YOU for a job well done!

best all around care under one roof

I have only experienced kindness and compassion at St Francis. Everyone there really cares for each individual animal that walks through that door as their own. This place is very highly recommended in my book. I know sometimes it does take that extra financial commitment to figure out what is wrong when something serious issue is happening with my pet, but the end result is worth every penny. Thanks to the Vets and staff there I have, and will continue to have, happy healthy thriving pets.

Excellent Service & Very helpful Staff

My husband & I have only received excellent service with St Francis Animal Hospital. The Cockatoo we have named "Cookie" loves going there for getting her beak trim or toe nails trimmed. We have even boarded her there while on vacation. She loved the attention she received while we were gone. It is such a ease of mind to know that we don't have to worry about Cookie & that she is in fact getting taken care of. We inherited Cookie from my father, Marvin Mackey (when he passed away) which he too took Cookie to St Francis along with his Shelties. He always spoke so highly of this animal hospital that we decided to keep bringing Cookie here since she was familiar with the staff & felt comfortable with them. My husband & I strongly recommend this animal hospital, St Francis, to anyone looking for a safe, friendly, compassionate staff.

*** BEWARE! ***

Very disappointed! Three of my friends have brought their exotic bird to St. Francis. All three died with in 24 hours. They were over charged and treated rudely when they complained about their companion dying. DO NOT BRING THE ANY BIRD. ESPECIALLY WILD BIRDS! They charge you at intake, and then won't disclose what they are going to do to the bird. The SIMPLE truth is, they just go in back and immediately euthanize the bird, even nestlings and fledglings! *** BEWARE! ***

Fast and Great Service

Two years ago I rescued an over weight pug with a laundry list of problems named Boogie. Needless to say I spend a lot of time at the vet and have been to many different clinics. Yesterday Boogie was playing and hurt his eye, in a panic I went to St. Francis because I had heard St. Francis was a great place to go for emergencies. The technicians were nice and helpful and the doctor saw us right away. Almost immediately she figured out what was wrong and explained it to me so I could understand better. She also pointed out some of Boogies previously diagnosed problems right off the bat even tho this was the first time she had ever seen him! I was amazed with her extensive knowledge about animals and I will be a returning customer. I would recommend this place to my Mother and anyone else who loves their pet.

Used to work there..UGH pt 2

I forgot to mention that Dr Baker goes to sleep in his office at night, after all the surgeries are done. Any animal that comes in during this time is diagnosed and treated by the technicians unless its a complicated case. And it had better be something major, because if you wake him up before 7 or 8am for something minor, he will be very angry with you. Anyone who asks to speak with the Doctor during these times are given the runaround ("He is with another patient" or "He is dealing with emergencies right now"). It seems to work, because the owners usually don't want to wait around until Dr. Baker is ready to wake up. Sometimes if the client is insistent on speaking with him, he will wake up and meet with them. Dr Baker usually works at the end of the week, however. No other doctor that I know of will do this. If you have an emergency, just do yourself a favor and try to take your pet in on Sun-Tues nights. Otherwise, just pay the extra fees somewhere else.

Used to work there...UGH!

I used to work at St. Francis, and all I can say is STAY AWAY! Animals who stay there, whether Hospitalized or boarding will be soaking in their own urine/feces for hours. I remember trying so hard to handle the animals' treatments in a timely fashion, but with the workload and being so understaffed, it was just impossible. If your pet is boarding there over the holidays, please be aware that none of the receptionists are allowed to say "we are full". They just expected us to keep animals in their carriers, stacked upon one another, with very little chance they will get to go outside for a potty break. Don't expect to get records. Dr Baker has to approve all records to be faxed. He gets a pile of those records on his desk to look over and edit how he sees fit! It takes him forever to look over and edit these files, and if he does not like you for any reason, he will withhold them. Then he will try to charge you 20 per page! Worst place I ever worked!

Caution All They Are After Is Your Money . . . please read

I have a 16 year old pet who has congestive heart failure and is on medication. I asked to have the prescription refilled and they told me they would not see my pet or dispense medication to me until my dog gets her vacination shots . . . I'm sorry, but my dog is months away from passing away, she can barely walk anymore and is partially blind and they are holding her drugs hostage just so I will pay for vacination shots that I've been told by other vets that a dog this old the vacinations may do more harm than good.

Competent care

Our old beagle began having seizures in the middle of the night. St Francis was convenient and took great care of our dog. They charged less than our regular vet did for labs. Our dog had a terminal illness so we had him put down there. They were all compassionate and caring. With our new puppy, we have had great care as well. We switched our from our other vet to St. Francis and haven't had any problems.

Rude, hateful people

I took my dog in for emergency c-section, they did it, and all 5 pups were dead, they did not notice the mother had a uterus infection and she also died. I begged them to give me back my dog, so I could take her to my vet,, they refused, said they wanted to keep her 48 hrs. I got VERY upset, and finally they gave her to me, AFTER my vets hours and my dog died during the night in my arms. I was NEVER allowed to talk to their vet, just the office help !!So, I thought, well maybe a fluck,,SO, last night I went back in with another emergency, and they REFUSED to treat my dog, saying I had been rude before. So today, my dog had to be put on IV at another vet, I told them what had happened, and they said they hear these reports ALL the time about ST FRancis. My dog is now fighting for her life. For the love of your animals, do not go there,, they are not animal lovers by any shade of the imagine.
