Dr. Lewis was awarded a Doctor of Dentistry from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1984, the same year he co-founded the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry with other internationally renowned dentists. In 1984, cosmetics dentistry was just becoming a specialized area of dentistry, as it began to grow from the use of orthodontic appliances to improve patients' smiles. Over the past 25 years, cosmetic dentistry has expanded into the use of porcelain restorations and other new advancements for cosmetic enhancements. In 1998, Dr. Lewis became accredited by the AACD, the youngest cosmetic dentist to ever do so. He is one of the most accomplished cosmetic dentists in the world. Dr. Lewis is also an adjunct professor of dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry and has been named a "Super Dentist" by Texas Monthly magazine for four years, and named a "Top Doc" for seven years in a row by H Texas Magazine. Dr. Lewis has created his own brand of non-prep porcelain veneers: G. Lewis Veneers. He is the official cosmetic dentist for the Houston Rockets and Rocket Powerdancers, the Houston Astros, the Houston Aeros, and for several pageants including Miss Texas, Miss Teen Texas, and Miss Hawaiian Tropic. Dr. Lewis is one of only a handful of Texas cosmetic dentists to receive fellowship in the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetics. Over the years, Dr. Lewis has enhanced the smiles of numerous people who are in the public eye, including Miss Texas 2005, Morgan Matlock, and Olympic gold medalists Laura Wilkinson, Dominique Moceanu, and Shannon Miller. He has also enhanced the smiles of musicians, public officials, and everyday people.
