A family owned company I recommend to anyone

My husband and I were referred by a good friend to Mortgage Master for the purchase of our first home. They have been a family run business for a long time and get majority of their business by referrals from their exsisting customers. The company did everything they could to make the home loan process an easy and enjoyable one. My husband and I were incredibly pleased with our experience. We have had friends who recently bought homes through other mortgage companies and told us how horrible the loan aquisition process is. We do not feel that way at all, and owe that thanks to Mortgage Masters. We worked with John and Michelle in obtaining the loan needed for our home. Both were readily and constantly available to answer any questions and concerns we had, even after normal business hours. They took time to explain parts of the loan and the process which were hard to understand. John made the entire experience as pleasant as it could possibly be, and we were able to efficiently and effectively obtain a loan for our house. I would recommend using Mortgage Master to anyone and I will use them again in the future.

Mortgage masters is a great company

As a Chicago White Sox fan, the only major league team in Chicago I really hate to agree with a "Cubs fan"...yuck...but I have to in this instance. Mortgage Masters has done 5 refinances and 1 new home purchase for me over the last 25 years. Always top notch service. They're always honest with me and the let me know what I can truly afford and what is marginal. I believe the reviewers below did not heed the latter when MM told them the risk. Therefore the dissatisfaction which is not MM's fault. Let's face it, the regulations are not allowing the Washington Mutual s of the world to grant mortgages that carry a lot of risk. I feel for them, I really do, but their reviews are not truthful. I have talked with numerous people who have similar problems with their loans over the last 4 years...and not with MM either. I've always received top notch service over those years and have really appreciated it. I recommend them.

Incompetence

Mortgage Master provided me with an assurance that I am qualified for the purchase. Once the purchase contract was signed they told me that they applied me twice for the loan, but both times the application was rejected. The rejection was explained as the income of the rental property that I own cannot be counted toward my qualifying income and this is a new policy of Wells Fargo - the bank they tried to sell my loan to. During this application process they charged me $500 appraisal fee. I was not satisfied with their explanations and used another broker to get a loan. The new broker provided me with a loan for the same house under the same conditions in two weeks. In addition to that he sold my loan to the same lender that Mortgage Master failed to qualify me with - Wells Fargo. My new broker explained to me that my rental income is qualified and there is not Bank imposed or Fanny Mae guidelines that preclude from counting my rental property income as a qualifying income. Stay away!

Couldn't disagree with phattydre more!

It is ashame when someone decides to post a review like the one above based on one transaction that can have so many different things involved in it. My experience with Mortgage Master is that the underwriters and processors seem to be the life line of the company! They worked above and beyond in our case. The turn times were far above expectation and everything we needed was communicated in a very clear manner. From a past experience with another lender I have learned that most of the time the issues in communication are with the loan officer and then they throw the processors and underwriters under the bus so they don't look bad with their client. I would recommend phattydre look into if that was the case here! We will continue to send our referrals and our business to Mortgage Master!

Not even as a last resort!!

Mortgage Masters has done the absolute best in making a couple's first home buying purchase the most stressful, and possibly one of the worst home buying experiences ever! Even if you don't have a choice, go through someone else!! The term "closing deadline" means nothing to Mortgage Masters. Make sure your seller is flexible with the amount of time needed to close on your loan - their processors are NOT quick by any means. Prioritizing, multi-tasking, and communicating are apparently not skills required to being an under-writer or loan processor at Mortgage Masters. Basic arithmetic and comprehension skills are also not a requirement to be a loan processor there. Common sense is something perhaps asked to be left at home. And don't expect a loan processor at Mortgage Masters to seek help or clarification for something they do not understand. Rather, they'll move on to the next project and keep yours on the back burner until you ask for an update. Even then, don't expect any progre
