I got my second tattoo today at The Purple Lotus. I got my first tattoo about 5 years ago so it was almost like getting one for the first time. I got a simple but meaningful design done on my wrist, which Shavon drew beautifully.



If anyone is getting a tattoo for the first time, Shavon is a great person to get it from. She not only cares about the design and making sure it's exactly what you want and making sure that it is perfect, she cares about each person. Also, if anyone is getting a tattoo for the first time, make sure you EAT SOMETHING!! I made the mistake of not eating breakfast before my appointment so my blood sugar was way low. Once Shavon started tattooing my wrist, I became really light headed and dizzy, not from the pain but because my blood sugar was so low. I am totally embarrassed to say this "out loud" but I FAINTED!!! Shavon and her friends that were there were so sweet to me. They made sure I got some sugar (cherry Lifesavers!), some water, and a granola bar. I was so embarrassed and felt so silly, but they were all very nice about everything and Shavon waited for me to feel better to continue.



My tattoo came out AWESOME :) I love it....the design is really great and the colors that Shavon suggested are perfect (although I think I may get one part of it changed to a darker color once it's healed)



Overall, from talking to Shavon about what I wanted to the time I walked out the door after the tattoo was finished, it was a GREAT experience. I would highly recommend going to Shavon for your first, fifth, tenth, or 100th tattoo!! She is awesome and so is everyone that I met today. Thank you all so very much for caring and being so nice :)

I found Shavon through a friend of a friend. This was my first tattoo, I had NO idea what to expect, however I knew what I wanted. From the moment I walked in, I never expected the priceless piece of art that Shavon drew for me. Not only did she capture what I wanted, but drew a design so priceless no words can describe the artistic design she created Just for Me! Her design captures so much more than I ever expected and for that, I will ever be indebted to Shavon. I recently went in for my 2nd tattoo with two of my best friends. We were walk ins and once shavon told us that she was booked until may, we figured she was legit. We were at the shop for about 6.5 hours and I honestly loved every minute. Spending the time there, before getting our tattoos, was awesome and I felt 100% comfortable in the environment. Shavon really welcomed all three of us into her shop and it simply wasn't a typical tattoo parlor. Anyone that goes into the purple lotus will see that shavon and her staff are there to accomodate the customer. They are all so wonderful! I'm so incredibly pleased with my new tattoo and I would gladly recommend shavon to any and all people looking for not just a special tattoo, but an even better experience! I decided to visit the Purple Lotus after it was recommended to me by a co-worker. I love the home-like atmosphere of the shop. It is comfortable and interesting. When I went in for my consultation, Shavon new exactly what I wanted and listened to my ideas, even though I didn't have a drawing and didn't even know for sure where I wanted my new tattoo.

The day of my tattoo, Shavon and her staff were super attentive and nice. They all had so much patience with me. It was obvious that she genuinely cared about my tattoo looking perfect. Shavon keeps the shop IMMACULATE!! It is extremely clean.



I have been back in for my three week check, and my tattoo looks just great :) I already have an appointment for my next tattoos with Shavon!



Shavon is such a great artist, and she put a lot of effort into making my tattoo (and drawings of future tattoos) just right.

Shavon is everything you want in a tattoo artist. I told her an idea that i had and she brought it to life and exceeded the design i pictured. it is unexplainable how satisfied i am with the Purple lotus! she is the only artist i will ever go to! she did my first and she will def do my last! not a crooked line in my sleeve and the shop is imaculate!! cant say enough about it and will recomend everyone i know! very professional and takes pride in her work and loves the art of the tattoo!! Very Very satisfied!!

First off This is my second tattoo, but i wish she did my first and second. Shavon was amazing, could not get any better!! Not only did she make me smile and laugh and crack up with us. but she talked to my girlfriend, and even talked with my little brother. and made them feel like her own customers, even though there just there to watch me, she just treated us 3 like she knew us for 20 years it was great! Shavon did just a great job with mine. My girlfriend is getting one done already by shavon. we got it scheduled out and everything!!! and my little brother wants to get one when hes 18 by her !! haha!! all the employees that work there are great people. easy going, and all love to talk. Shavon you are my official tattoo artist. i will not go anywhere else simple as that!!! and when we see u in three weeks. you will be hitting your love bell again im sure!!!!

You are pretty much bomb diggity sweetheart and I totally loved your staff. My foot tattoo is amazing and I have received nothing but mad compliments on it. Thanks for the complex on my chubby toes and the moans and groans of PAIN that could apparently take Jenna Jameson back to aminature status ! LOL. You're awesome and I can't wait for my next appointment on the 10th of April. I am addicted to tattoos and it's all your fault!

A dear friend and fellow yogi recommend that I let Shavon design a work of art for me. I let the artist be the artist she is and the outcome is fantastic. I love it and will visit again to have more body art done.

Firstly, I have been contemplating a tattoo for a long time, and when I came up with a design, had my mother look at it, and come up with a few more, and then sent it to Shavon, she turned it into a work of art. The design she came up with was very impressive, and definitely right along the idea with what I was trying to convey with the image.

Secondly, when she started the work, being that this was my first tattoo, she made sure that I was super comfortable and she and Nelson and Becca were able to pick up on my own personality which was super cool. They were all awesome. Great environment, great work.

I couldn't be happier with the work. Everyone that consults with Shavon, and allows her to use her mastery of art, will be very happy with the outcome.

I spent about a month reviewing different locations as I wanted to get a tattoo in honor of my son. Shavon's was the only place that I heard consistantly good things about. I instantly felt comfortable with her and the work she was doing. After I was finished it became obvious why there were only positives said about her and the Purple Lotus. Great experience. Great work.

I went to Shavon's at the recommendation of some friends. I wanted to have a really bad tattoo covered up. I told Shavon that I liked penguins and playing the piano. The design she came up with literally blew me away. The work was started in October of 2010. When she finished the first one, I couldn't stop there. I had her design 2 more for me.Everything was finished at the end of February 2011. My entire bottom of my right leg is a party!. Georgeous colors! Penguins, music notes, keyboards, snowflakes, bubbles - you name it I got it. Shavon is the BEST!! Everyone at The Purple Lotus is fantastic!

My husband is going to have a tattoo done by Shavon next.

And then................Well, all I can say is it is addicting.

I was lucky enough to have my first tattoo done at Purple Lotus. I am completely blown away with everything. I walked in with an idea and Shavon turned it into a piece of art. The level of detail and heart she put into my artwork just blows my mind every time I look at it. It turned out to be so much more then I ever envisioned it even could be. I honestly can't wait to go back and get some more work done and I would recommend Purple Lotus to anyone.

Just recently recieved my second tattoo from Shavon's Purple Lotus, and once again, it couldn't have came out ANY better! Shavon's Purple Lotus is the ONLY place I'll ever get my ink done. The atmosphere is unlike any other. Laid back, easy going, cool people. Hands down, best shop in SC, no if's, and's or but's. Whether it's your 1st tattoo, or your 50th, this is the place to get it done! 5 stars is not enough to rate Shavon's work!

I Have 3 tattoos on my back, all by different people. And you can definitely tell. Why I didn't stick with one? I have no idea, but hey, it happened, so I have to live with it. I came to Shavon out of sheer impulse and asked her to draw a sketch that would, how should I say this politely without upsetting the previous artists, "draw everything together"....she came out with this BEAUTIFUL sketch of an asian scenery and told me I needed to tell her the absolute truth about how I felt about it.....!

My thought was, hmm, let me see...nothing!? why are you asking me?! But her philosophy is different than most tattoo artists'. She believes the person who requests the tattoo is the decision maker as to what is good and bad about the tattoo she sketches, and that made me immediately fall in love with the shop. I gave her my suggestions, (however slight they were), and she had the next sketch ready for my viewing in no time. Same with the second sketch, too, she just sat back quietly and let me review it by myself. After I told her I had nothing negative to say about the sketch, she double checked with me that the size was right, the linework was what I wanted, etc. and then set up a time for me to get it done.

Well, yesterday was the big day to get the outlines done, and even though I was a baby the whole time, she never once got frustrated. We took breaks when I wanted to, she didn't make me feel rushed because I was cutting into her closing time, she talked me through the pain and even let me cuss at her a few times (lol!!)

You can tell what kind of person tattoo artists are towards the end of the session, when they know they are about to be finished and don't need to see you for awhile or, better yet, ever again. I've had some who just slather my tattoo up, slap a bandage on it and say thanks for coming in, I've had others who haven't even handed me an aftercare packet to take home. I got a hug, a smile, a bunch of thank you's, a few questions about how I felt about the tattoo, a confirmation for the next appointment, and even a compliment as to how well I did, even though I know it was a complete lie :-) Shavon and her whole staff always display the utmost professionalism with such ease, it almost feels like I'm walking into my own home...I am never going to let any other tattoo artist touch my skin other than her, I just wish I found her sooner when I had a higher pain tolerance and a fresh back :-)

After searching for awhile, I finally found Shavon's Purple Lotus. All I can is when I walked in, i was instantly pleased and couldn't wait to get a tattoo. Shavon and her staff made me feel very welcomed. They were very professional and I already have my appt. to finish my leg and can't wait. Thanks to Shavon, I love my new tattoo!!!!

My first tattoo experience was, unfortunately, not at Purple Lotus. The artist spent a long time putting together my ideas in a bare-bones kind of way. He insisted that the work could not be done smaller than he did it, and he had no ideas to elaborate upon what I walked in with. I walked out 3 1/2 hours later with a piece twice the size and 3x the price I wanted which I tried really hard to convince myself that I liked. Shavon @ Purple Lotus was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Not only did she listen with her whole heart to everything I said, she seemed to understand who I am and what I wanted my tattoo to say. She had ideas and brought them together to create something which makes me happy every single time I look at it. I'm not going to lie--my tattoo is artwork, and it is gorgeous. I appreciate compliments, but my favorite one is the one I get from the girl in the mirror every time. The art on my back is about me. Also, Shavon was super-kind when my needle-hating self got woozy. She took about 45 minutes to fix my tattoo, and the price was a steal. I will never go anywhere else. Shavon "gets" me, and that's kind of important when I'm letting someone draw on my body. It healed perfectly, and I know that I will get the same compassionate attention anytime I walk into her studio.

I went to the Purple Lotus to get a cover up tattoo. It turned out so great and Shavon and her staff are super friendly .The shop is so comfortable that you feel like part of the family. I will def. go back in the near future to for all my tattoos. The shop is not run of the mill tatto shop. Shavon does custom tattoos so you will not see your tattoo on anyone else if she designs it.Shavon is super nice and friendly . So go on over and visit .

I just got a tattoo done by the amazing Shavon. I have nothing negative at all to say even if I wanted to. The shop as a whole makes you feel like you are part of the purple lotus family. The artwork is completely custom and the actual tattoo technique is very detail oriented. I have collected a decent amount of tattoo's from several artist some of whom are friends and have always let the artist do something that they wanted to, a piece that they designed with minimal input from me other than price range and spot on the body were the art is going to go. This is the same thing that I did with Shavon and I must say she knocked it out of the park. I am in love with my tattoo and tattoo was more than worth the money. I would highly recommend anyone go here for work. Weather you be a first timer or a collector like myself. Save your time and your money from going to another shop were you are going to be unhappy with the result and want to get it covered up and just go see Shavon. She will treat you with the up most respect and take very good care of you.

I've gotten four tattoos from Shavon at the Purple Lotus and I have to say that I'm pleased with all of them. The artwork is great and it's always fun whether I'm just stopping in to say hi, get a new tattoo, or get some work done on one that's a work in progress. Being in the military and away from Columbia can be troublesome but Shavon always manages to squeeze me in for some work and I've never been disappointed. I will continue to go to Shavon for all of my tattoos and recommend you check out her site and her work if you're thinking about getting a tattoo that's custom made and done in a friendly atmosphere with friendly employees!

Not at all what i expected.Needs to focus more on her job and not worry about anything else. big regret stopping here. artwork is soso.Not so much custom, more like copying others work.
