I was recommended by my Denver vet before I moved to Albuquerque. The doctors have a great rapport with the animals. My cats took to them right away. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have extremely flexible hours, late evening, emergency, walk-ins and weekends (including Sundays). They also treat exotic animals. Although Petroglyph is located on the Westside, they're worth the additional travel from the NE Heights. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my cats.

Took my dog who was having a medical crisis and could not be seen by usual vet. She was bleeding continuously through the nose. She had either been poisoned or had a anti-immune response. When they did get to her they did everything. One of the vets brought his dog in for blood donation, they put her on IV's and oxygen. She was there for nearly a week. They let me visit every day and let her out of her pen so I could comfort her. Very knowledgeable and caring. Would recommend them for emergencies!!

Very kind and saved our kitten

I was very impressed with Petroglyph Animal Hospital. We adopted two kittens from a shelter and one of them became very ill with an upper respiratory infection on a Saturday. We took him to see Dr. Hopkins who was wonderful. Our kitten was developing pneumonia as well and I knew that was not good. Dr. Hopkins was very honest about everything and took lots of time explaining things to me. He and the other doctors and staff were wonderful and in a day and a half the sad little kitten I brought in was amazingly healthy. They saved his life and were so kind every time I called to check on him or visited him. He is still thriving and I am so grateful to Petroglyph for their professionalism and concern for pets and their owners.

Never Take Your Pet to this Clinic

Unprofessional service from beginning to end. We were asked if they could run tests before hearing from the vet about her initial exam. In our unknowing and agitated state we did give them permission to run tests. However, the initial exam provided that our animal had severe brain damage and I do not believe that further tests were necessary, though they were run to the tune of about $400.00. A decision was made to euthanize our dog. We were not invited to be there to hold her or even see her but were allowed when we asked. The treatment from the staff from beginning to end was appalling. We had a critically injured animal that we loved very much. The attitude both in the front office and behind in the actual clinic was not at all appropriate for pet owners and their animals. While I was there 3 other owners brought their injured animals in and were very upset about their pet's injuries. The staff was laughing and not showing one bit of concern to the emotional condition of the pet owners in the waiting area. It was the same as we were waiting in the exam room to speak with the vet....finally. You heard laughing and joking coming from the staff. After we spoke with the vet and went back to be with our Roxie while she was waiting to be euthanized, the receptionist came back to interrupt this horrible process to have us pay our bill!!! We asked if this couldn't wait until Roxie had passed and we had said our goodbyes. They would not euthanize her until we got out our credit card, waited until she processed payment and returned the card. Appalling and unacceptable practice in my opinion. I would never take another animal to that clinic no matter their condition. Ask your vet to recommend a quality clinic who will provide compassionate service to your animal and treat you with some dignity. Their behavior and service made a very sad time much, much worse. It is the horrible service that I remember today, not the fact that our loving little puppy was taken care of in her final moments and was able to pass peacefully. I am sure she felt our anxieties which were made much worse by the service or lack of service rendered by this clinic.
