DON'T GO HERE! Or, at least not to see Dr. Oro. I had gone there for almost 10 months and finally reached the breaking point when my last visit was something like a scene out of a horror movie. Let me say that the only reason my misery went on for 10 months is because my appts were spaced 2-3 weeks apart (her next available dates) and I had to cancel 2 appts because of complications associated with my husband's terminal illness, which added 2 months while I waited for my re-scheduled appts. I looked for the closest dentist to my home and because of the serious medical issues with my husband, have spent the better part of the last 10 months at a hospital and just couldn't look for another dentist at midnight when I was getting home.

Dr. Oro is an arrogant (putting it nicely) dentist who talks to her patients in a condescending manner and has NO compassion for patients in pain. Further, don't count on any understanding if something comes up that interferes with your scheduled appt and plan on a lecture when you return for your rescheduled appt. For example, I checked in one day at 3:02 PM (on their computer) for a 3 PM appt. I left a hospital in Manhattan after signing consents for a ventilator for my husband who was taken to the hospital the night before for seizures and got stuck in a little traffic going back to Yonkers. After being told that my appt. might be cancelled, I explained why I was TWO minutes late, which was according to their clock - my watch said 2:59 PM when I walked in. I was taken into the room at 3:15 PM and Dr. Oro gave me a 5 minute lecture of how I should have planned better and left Manhattan earlier.

My last visit, literally as I am NOT going back, Dr. Oro failed to numb the area that she was working on. In the 10 months that I had been going there, I got as far as having the teeth cleaned on 3 sides of my mouth and a root canal, which is still not complete. I insisted on having my cavities filled on this visit as it had reached the point that I couldn't chew on either side of my mouth without pain. She injected the novacaine (?) into the soft tissue between my cheek and throat and told me this would numb the bottom gum to the right front bottom tooth. After several minutes of repeatedly telling her that I was not feeling ANY numbness, she begrudgingly gave me another shot in the gums and with her normal arrogance kept telling me the first one should have made me numb. She then waited a couple of minutes and began drilling. Everything was fine when she started, but when she reached the point of removing the last of the old filling, and was still drilling to clean the last of it out, she kept hitting spots that felt like she was hitting a nerve and it was QUITE painful. I would jump every time she hit these spots (which was almost always) and told her that it was painful. Her (annoyed) response was that I had to "deal with a little discomfort" and she had to finish the filling because now it was a gaping hole. Here's the horror movie part. I sat in that chair, for what felt like an eternity, holding back tears and clenching my fists while this dentist drilled away in my mouth. I am NEVER going back there and wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!!
