same story, i paid him 1000$ and all i had left to do was the final online course and have the judge "sign off" off on my bankruptcy. After almost 2 years i finally wrote a letter to the judge. He did reply to me and set a court date for bartkus. I was not required to go but i did becuase i wanted to know what was going to happen. Bartkus didnt show up (suprise right) and the judge is making him pay me back $600 and assigned me another lawyer "pro bono". bartkus had another court date march 1st to prove he paid me, if i had not recieved payment he would recieve a bench warrant. He didnt show up to that court date or pay me...he is probably in jail. im not worried about getting my 600 from him im just happy i got my case finalized! so for everyone else having problems write letters to the judge. call the bankruptcy court house and they can help you. they are all aware of what hes done to many others.

The worst!! Will not return phone calls. I hired him for my bankruptcy paid him in full, it has been a year and a half and is still not complete for a simple chapter 7. He is a crook! Be leary of cheap prices, you get what you pay for, NOTHING!!!

Hired Joe Bartkus to represent me in an uncontested divorce, pretty straight up and simple. Had to hound him to file the paper work, when he did --- and not even completely, he disappeared along with my $400.00. Had to hire a new attorney to represent me and send a letter to him asking for my retainer back and for breaking his contract...we of course got no response.



I recommend filing a complaint against him with the State Board of Attorneys, which is exactly what I'll be doing right after the craziness of the holidays.

Mr. Bartkus seems to have stolen my $500. Hired the firm June 2, 2011 and they won't work or contact me after 5 months. Grade F BBB rating and reported to state board.



Dec 14 update: Nothing new to report. Will be repesenting myself as I can't afford another lawyer. Wish me luck.

Met this guy in the middle of a D and W parking lot instead of a office or his home, I should have known better. I paid for a bankruptcy up front and he has never completed the work. I am so upset with how he has handled the case, wasted my time and has not called back.



I could go on and on about Joseph Bartkus, but I see no reason other than to explain the work was never completed and I paid in full up front.



I WOULD NOT recommend him to anyone.
