Oh what an experience it was Saturday night at Fiddler's Green! It was our first time coming here and my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. He chose this pub to have dinner because of all the praise he had heard about it.

When we first walked in we weren't sure if it was a seat yourself or wait for a hostess situation. We waited patiently and asked a young lady dressed in all black as she walked through the front area if there were any tables available. She looked at us with a blank stare, said "Uh, um." a few times and then said she didn't see anything available but we could sit at a high top at the bar and she would let us know when a table was available. We decided to sit at the bar since there was a portly gentleman leaning into the high top watching the game on the TV.

When we got to the bar we were greeted promptly and asked what we would like to drink, things began looking up - someone in this place has a clue. As we sat at the bar talking and reminiscing about the past 17 years of marriage the time passed easily. My husband went and asked the status of our table since we seemed to have been forgotten about. After he finally found another young lady dressed in all black she said the next table would be ours.

The wait continued and I finally got up and asked about the status of our table as it had been a while and I saw other tables being seated. After looking a bit flabbergasted and clueless, she pointed to a table near the stage and asked if that would be ok which we took.

After we sat down a young man walked past and then turned and stopped to ask if we had been helped yet. We said no and he offered to take our drink order (when we had two drinks on the table). I said we were ok in that department but would like to order. He asked what we would like, I ordered an appetizer, he said ok sure and left. My husband and I were a bit puzzled but figured the place was pretty busy and we were in no rush, so it was fine.

The appetizer came out pretty quickly but we had nothing to eat it with. We had no silverware. We waited for a few minutes to see if the server was going to come back to take the rest of our order or check in on us. When he didn't show my husband went on a silverware hunt, this is when the server showed back up. He noticed the silverware issue and he went to go find some as well. Apparently the restaurant ran out of clean silverware that night because he came back with plastic to-go utensils. After he gave those to us and apologized for the embarrassment he left. We had yet to place our dinner order.

We got about halfway through the appetizer when our server walked past, I stopped him and asked if we could place our order. He looked a bit confused by this but was accommodating. When we ordered the loaded baked potato he advised he wasn't sure if there were any left, they were out of a lot of stuff that night (apparently. But he said he would put it in and let us know.

Our food arrived (with steak knives thank God) but no real silverware was ever brought to us. So my husband had steak and lobster with a plastic fork - quite the experience. The server only checked in on us once after that and it took them forever to clear our plates. Then the check came - apparently there is a $1 upcharge for something we ordered so both of our meals were overcharged but for the sake of not going through another clueless employee moment we just paid and left.

I cannot believe for an establishment who has been around for as long as you have and has such a great reputation can have such clueless & idiotic employees. I'm not sure if they all just started around the same time or what the situation was, but the only employees who seemed to have a clue as to what was going on or how to do their jobs were the bar tenders.

Fish and Chips

We heard from the staff the fish and chips were the best thing on the menu. I guess we had higher expectations and we were anticipating a great dinner. The fish was okay. We will stick to this pub for their excellent happy hour and choice of beers.

Great Atmosphere

Yeah, this place is pretty awesome. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and inexpensive. Spent nearly entire last World Cup here and loved it. Great wings and Fish n Chips. Tons of great beer in the bottle and on tap to choose from.
