Haystacks is a privately owned family restaurant. We are frequent visitors to the Wilkes-Barre area. A few years ago we decided to try it for breakfast and were very impressed. They have a large breakfast menu with many of the own specialties. The service is good and the atmosphere is pleasant. We visit the area at least once a year, and usually have breakfast at Haystacks. We've only been there for breakfast, but if their lunch and dinner menu is anything like the breakfast menu, I would recommend Haystacks any time of day. In contrast to the previous review, the place is very clean. Ive been going there since 2008 and I have never seen a cockroach.

The food was ok but the roaches turned me off. There were so many I am calling the health department.

This small place was about to be closed when the wait staff (who enjoyed working with each other) pooled their money and reopened the restaurant. If that's not enough reason to stop by, then go for the unual breakfast selections or just the friendly atmosphere.
