You won't be treated, but they will get paid anyway. Father had cancer. Tried to get them to treat him. They said "send his file." we called back. They lost it. Sent it again. Lost it again. Three times this happened. Had to wait weeks between each time while they "reviewed his records" only to find out that they had lost them instead. He died while waiting for someone at this facility to learn to use the fax machine. Please, go anywhere else. It's worth it.

In a separate instance, was told over the phone I needed treatment and to come into the emergency room. When I got there, they said I didn't need treatment after all and sent me on my way. Billed insurance company nearly $1,000. I had to pay the co-pay. Complete scam.

If I could give it lower I would. If you go your going to be there for 3 hours to get some one to look at you. NO JOKE. Just to look at a finger. And there was maybe 8 people there in the ER to get looked at. Some thing with them. It's sad !!! The worst hospital service. Bad business. They need someone how knows how to run one. This is every time we come here and we have 3 kids. GO DOWN THE STREE TO General

At one time was a decent hospital but it seems like all the caring staff that once was here left. I can see why. My son sat in the ER last night for over 6 hours with an asthma attack. His o2 stats were even low. They never even cared to check him again while waiting all that time to make sure they didn't drop. Lady at deak and triage nurse were simply cold fish. Not a place you would want to go to die.

My mother fell and cut her head open, ambulance brought her to this ER at midnight. While everyone was very NICE, we did not see a doctor unitl 6AM; even then it was a PA, not a doctor. They recommended we talk to Physical Therapy since I didnt think it was a good idea to glue her head back together and then send her home to be cared for by a perosn who was awake, waiting in a hard chair, ALL NIGHT (me). Another hour and a half wait. Didnt get out of there unitl 9:30 AM. Time spent there, 9.5 hours. Seriously??!!

I took my brother to the emergency room two days ago and the nurses and staff were very nice. We went pretty early like 10am and they attended us within 20mins because there was other people ahead. My brother was admitted to the hospital and they were so nice and helpful. The food was very good too i recommend this hospitaL.

It's the best.... they take me in right away the few times I had to be rushed there... the doctors came in and talked to me and explained what was going on every step of the way. The nurses are angles not just in ER but also on other floors. Other than one nurse (ERIN) heart hospital .... they all were good..

Horrible experience, and from reading the recent reviews i see not much has changed since my nightmare when i went to this ER in Feb. of 2010. I got there at 8:30 pm and was not seen till 4:45 am. I was only a few days post surgery that i had done there, so i was having problems and I thought well I should go to the ER of the hospital where i had the surgery. The staff was extremely rude, from the girl that takes your vitals when you go there to the other idiots behind the desks with the clip board. Two bald/balding male jerks were there and became very rude when i asked if he could tell me where i was on the list. I guess they thought i want to cut or something, but i just wanted to know how many were ahead of me.Yes, others went in before me that came in after me. I remember the lady that took the vitals was yelling about the lady that takes the insurance information at the window on the end ( a co-worker of hers) making remarks that she has no medical knowlege, which maybe true, but this lady was flipping out, yelling this to a patient in front of a crowded ER waiting room. It was like a three ring circus. Anyway, i was the last patient there in the waiting room when the cranky lady that takes my vitals finally called me back at 4;45AM but said no rooms were open up so she put me on this cot /stretcher in a back room, ALONE, WITHOUT A CALL BELL, AND LEFT ME THERE. Now if i would of fell of the stretcher or had a siezure, heart attack, whatever, I would have been SCREWED and the hospital would have been SUED. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT. Then finally after 30 mins or so a cleaning lady heard me moaning in pain and called the same lady that put me there (the vital sign lady) and then at that time she put me in a room. When the director or ER or doctor, did see me, im not sure which she was, It was a female though, she said she was sorry for the wait but they had lifelights from the helicopter that came in. I hope one day they are suffering and have to wait 8 hours in pain. Anyway it was chaos then and apparently still chaos now. The should re-evaluate the functioning of this ER and the employees they hire. I will never return to this ER.

This place is a disaster. They wanted the monopoly and now they have it and we are the ones to pay. Last night I was there with a family member and the wait was over 8 hours just to be seen. The woman that takes your information is behind bullet proof glass and after being there I can see why. She was rude unprofessional and downright nasty to the people that are coming there looking for help. She would turn away from the microphone and talk into her computer and continue to ask the same questions and make people repeat themselves over and over. There was no room for the people to sit there were people sitting outside on the curb. A young couple came in with their sick child who could not have been more than 2 or 3 and were told that the wait was at least 8 hours before they could even have been seen. They went down to the urgent care in the hospital and were turned away as they were told that they were already booked up for the night. They were told to go somewhere else…

The issue is that Geisinger wanted the monopoly and our law makers allowed them to get it. In the 70’s Wilkes-Barre/Wyoming Valley had enough hospitals. There was Wyoming Valley, Nanticoke, Pittston, Mercy, General, Nesbit there was two in Hazelton etc… Now there are only two hospitals left in Wilkes-Barre General and Geisinger. Some people may say there are three with Mercy but it is now only an urgent care and does not have an ER. There is only one in Hazelton, Hazelton General which is owned by Lehigh Valley. ST Joes is gone the way of the others.

It will take someone dying in the middle of the ER MAYBE to get someone in that hospital to stand up and take notice. Glen Steele Jr. needs to get off his big pile of money and come up with solutions. Joanne Wade is in charge of expansion. She does a great job put why do you have someone in charge of that when you cannot handle what you have. This hospital is a mess, it is a shame hard working people in Wyoming Valley have to be subjected to what Mr. Steele considers to be a good hospital

this is a terrible place for ...

this is a terrible place for treatment. I spent 4 hours there with my wife who was injured, left in the ER room bleeding and then had to clean her own wounds as the nurse watched. I would not reccomend this plce to a dying dog
