I specifically contacted this company because I wanted an arborist, not just a gardener. The crew was not certified. I wanted the supervisor to sign off on the job and then pay them. He left before the job was complete. I called the office to request that an arborist sign off on the job (to take responsibility) so I could pay them. Taylor in the office was pleasant. The owner, Don Swartzbaugh, was not. The owner was rude and was yelling at me for asking that he stop by to sign off on the work so I could pay him. It was very upsetting. I will not be recommending his services.

At midnight on Sunday a forty-foot eucalyptus tree fell on my roof taking with it the wires to my phone service and my electrical service and shattering a skylight in one of my bedrooms. I called Don at 7 AM and asked him if he could spare a few guys to get the tree off the roof so SCE and Verizon could come and repair the lines. Fernando and two other men showed up about 8:30 AM and removed the tree without any further damage to my home in plenty of time for Edison and Verizon. This is what I call exceptional service!

I was given a time and date when someone would come to my house to give an estimate for what I needed. They were a few minutes late, but had called prior to that to alert me that the previous estimate would take slightly longer than expected and they would be a few minutes late. I felt the price was more than fair and made an appointment to have the above work done. The crew showed up that day at around 7AM and started in right away. They had the work done and cleaned up by 10AM. A separate person came to do the stump removal and he showed up right on time a day later as promised. I was very pleased with the work and the professionalism the company showed.

Derek came out to give us an estimate for the work we needed done. We thought the price was reasonable and based on the other reports we had read on Angie's List we decided to have them do the job. Derek came out for the estimate on a Wednesday in January and we got the work done on Saturday of the same week. The crew came out complete with a machine that ground the leaves and wood and hauled all of the debris away. It was amazing how quickly and efficiently they worked. Everyone from Derek to the the workers involved with doing the trimming seemed to enjoy their jobs. When we mentioned finding the company on Angie's List, a discount was applied to our estimate.

We called on 6/23/2010 and explained what type of work we had in mind. The following day, Don came out to bid job. The office kept in touch with us from there arranging a date and time for work to be done. On 7/7 workers arrived 10 minutes early and began work immediately. We couldn't believe they were finished in 2 hours. They then hauled all brush away and returned to clean up any debris. (They are now installing a block wall fence, also)

Don, who came out to give me the quote, was personable, professional and knowledgeable. The quote was more than reasonable, which surprised me. The company is large and well-staffed, and I thought they would be more expensive than smaller tree service outfits, but their price came in well under other quotes I received. The work was carried out over 2 days. The trees are well trimmed, the workers cleaned up well and chopped up firewood logs for me. The office staff are very professional and polite, and they were consistent with communication -- e.g., calling to notify me if they were going to be late (even if only by 15 mins!). I am very pleased and will definitely continue using their services in the future.
