Barbara Mandrell and her family built this beautiful 27,000 square foot log home in the wooded hills of Nashville and called it home. Now this magnificent facility is open to the public for home tours as well as a setting for once-in-a-lifetime events such as weddings, bah mitzvahs, and other not to be forgotten events. It is a beautiful setting to come out and spend half a day, walk the trails, enjoy a fabulous meal in the restaurant, tour the Mansion and imagine life of a different style. And bring friends, you'll want to share this experience with them!

Outstanding service and food. We enjoyed the music which we hear is every night. The pizza was the best in Nashville...and it is only 15 to 20 minutes from downtown. The best!

A good variety of mostly Italian foods, including pizzas, pastas, and salads. The food was not amazing, and the flourless chocolate cake was a little too rich for my taste, but it was a good dining experience overall.

Made a special trip to try som...

Made a special trip to try something different for a nice Sunday dinner.

What a total disapointment.

Not sure what the gravy was made of, greens not cooked very well, white beans so salty they couldn't be eaten but the salt did help hide the taste.

Meatloaf was god awful, NASTY, NASTY, NASTY.

Price was way to expensive for the quality of food served.

Great Food & Service

The Farm House Cafe at Fontanel consistently provides great food, service, & atmosphere.

Enjoy a stroll by Whites Creek, or a 2 mile hike.

Below Country Cooking Expectations

Trying to keep it short, so here goes.

Ate lunch there with my wife in early October, arriving there about 1130am. No crowd, but it took me calling over to a waitress after several minutes for us to even be recognized. My fried chicken was dry and my wife's greens were very gritty (so not washed well). Didn't realize we were suppossed to get cornbread until the end of our meal when we overheard a waitress at another table offering to bring them cornbread. The edge of the pie crust was thick and couldn't be cut through. Noted all of this on the comment card. Also tried submitting a review on the Fontanel's website. Not surprised that they only allow glowing reviews to be posted on there.

Took almost 3 weeks to hear anything from someone at the restaurant. They offered us a free meal, so my wife and I went last weekend, and didn't say anything about the free meal until the check was brought over. We did this in order to provide a more fair assessment of the quality and service.

Well, it took 6 minutes for a waiter to come to the table for the first time (the restaurant was busier but not that much). I got the fried chicken again which was better - hot & moist, but the taste was bland. Broccoli was barely lukewarm. My wife had the breakfast and said that she could tell that the right process was not used for preparing her eggs.

After the meal I did ask for the GM to introduce myself, and she did pick up the check as promised. I did tell her that the meal was mostly better, but she just mostly gave excuses when I mentioned the broccoli from this visit ("it's a battle to keep it hot because a fan is used in the kitchen"), and the greens from last visit ("you can never really get them clean").

It would seem that the company who runs this restaurant, TomKats, would have country cooking down pat. Well, evidently they don't. I'm not a fussy eater, but there are plenty of other country-style restaurants that prepare and deliver hot, tasty, properly cleaned, country foods.

The Fontanel has great potential out in Whites Creek to draw plenty of tourists and locals alike. If TomKats can't deliver on their end then the owners of the Fontanel need to get someone in that restaurant who can make Nashville proud with great country cooking.
