Unified Window Systems Inc was founded in the late 1980's by Steven DiMare and Richard Nardi. Having years of construction experience starting from the ground up, both men knew they could run a successful company together selling and installing windows, doors, siding and roofing. Unified started with one showroom in Hempstead Village and less than 1 million dollars in sales that first year. Now, Unified has four showrooms, having added Huntington, Patchogue and White Plains locations and boasts almost 15 million per year in sales.

Beware! They misrepresent product! We spent over $20,000 on a new roof and I was very concerned about the color since I wanted something neutral enough so that I wasn't constricted in color choice when we painted the house. The tiny samples of roofing material they show you are ridiculous, can't get any sense of what it really looks like. Our salesperson, Matt, told me there were large samples I could see in the showroom. I drove a half hour there to find there weren't any large samples of the color I was interested in. Matt reminded me I had a contract I couldn't get out of and that the color I had chosen was the most neutral, versatile color. I repeatedly told him I wanted a unified look, not what I called a patchwork look. Since the installation was delayed, I was out of town on a business trip when the roof was installed. I came home to find exactly what I did NOT want - a roof with various shaded tiles and not a neutral color at all. The color I had been shown in miniature was the darkest of the shades with the others being significantly lighter, another thing I didn't want. When I reminded Matt of our conversation, he replied "sorry about that." I received a follow up call from one of the owners who said he would give me a significant discount on any future work with the company. Fat chance of me doing any further business with them. Avoid the ridiculously expensive mistake I made and stay clear of these folks.

This company actually hires various subcontractors, hiring other home improvement companies to do the actual work. The workers are not directly Unified employees but work for the subcontractor. The workers and foreman arrived in a truck with a different company name imprinted on the sides (not Unified's name!). Many of the workers wore shirts with the different company name. Prior to the contract with Unified this question was directly and specifically asked of the Estimator who clearly stated their workers are employed by Unified. Not the case. They outsource!

Unified is the really the middleman.

We used them for a vinyl siding project.
