The Edna L. Roker Social Adult Day Center first opened its doors in July 1993 with a total of five clients. To date, The Roker Center has cared for several hundred individuals and has provided respite to their caregivers and family members. The Roker Center is particularly unique because it was created from personal need and love for a family member, Edna L. Roker's daughter, Miriam Roker Horsford, a nursing and hospital administrator, developed and designed the day center to meet the needs of her mother and others who were afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The mission of The Roker Center is to provide a better quality of life for afflicted individuals while maintaining their dignity in a therapeutic and warm environment. The Roker Center prides itself on its ability to provide individualized programming based on each individual's current cognitive and physical ability. We continuously strive to improve the services we provide. Input from caregivers and family members led us to open our first communal residence in 1997 which was followed by a second residence that opened in 1998.The Edgepark and Old White Plains Communal Care Residences provide total care for loved ones and offer an alternative to premature institutionalization. With the support of caring, dedicated and qualified staff, our caregivers and their families, we are committed to providing the best service to seniors living in our Westchester County community.
