Cornell & Company began as a small one-man steel erection business in Woodbury, N.J., in the early 1900s. Charles Frederick Cornell left New York in 1910 to start his company in the South Jersey community where it still maintains its headquarters. Anyone traveling the superhighways, crossing bridges or entering major buildings in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area will almost certainly encounter a project in which Cornell was or is involved. The company is an industry leader in steel fabrication, erection and crane manufacturing rentals and sales. Cornell erected 13,200 tons of structural steel for the Philadelphia Eagles football stadium known as Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. One of the unique features of the stadium design is the boomerang columns supporting the upper grandstand seating.
