I have a 2015–2016 snow removal prepaid seasonal contract with O'Brien Landscaping. It's been a very mild winter and there have been very few opportunities for Chris O'Brien to come over here. However, we did have an April 3–4 snowstorm that left 4 plus inches on my driveway and O'Brien has not been here. It's now over 24 hours since the end of the storm and I have called Chris O'Brien twice over several hours. No response… No one showing up. So basically it was a winter where I paid $532 for snow removal and received no service. I didn't expect them to show up for the snow dustings we had all winter but I did expect them to show up and do a great job for the one or two times that I had snow over 2 inches. No show… No call… No nothing! They are anything but dependable and reliable! Go elsewhere!

I never had them do any landscaping work for me. And based on my experience i would NEVER CONSIDER HIRING THIS LIAR. I think my experience with this guy is still valuable to people who are considering hiring him. I bought a Dodge Ram 1500 from him for $5k. I'll give it to him, he put a very good price on that truck. However, the issue arises in the fact that he SIGNIFICANTLY misrepresented the miles on the engine. The truck had 238k on the body, but he insisted that the engine had been replaced in 2012 with a used engine with 89k miles. He went on to say that he could not be sure the exact miles, but that he did not drive it much. He ESTIMATED that it had around 130k miles on it. Well after I bought the car and went through the paperwork I found out that the 89k mile engine had been put in by the dealer he bought it from in 2012. The title he gave us clearly said that he bought the car at 151k miles and sold it to us at 238k miles. THERE WAS NO NEED TO ESTIMATE THE MILEAGE!! It was clear that he put 88k miles on that truck, meaning that engine had 170k miles not 130k. After I contacted him about it he got super defensive, and reminded me that he only estimated it at 130k miles and reminded me that that was just an ESTIMATE (i dont know about y'all, but to me an estimated mileage implies that you can't know the actual mileage). He was very deceitful about this whole mileage thing, and at some point just said "well you bought it As Is and there is nothing more I can do for you. Have a nice day." And now he has totally stopped responding to my texts. I would never hire someone as sneaky and dishonest as this. The thing is the truck is in real good shape, and I probably would have still bought it had he been honest with me. With businesses like this, you can't put a price on honesty. This experience shows that he is dishonest outside of his business life. I can't imagine what its like hiring him for a job.

All show, no substance. Promises the moon, takes your payment and then splits. Promises to show up on a daily basis and then never does. Does not answer the phone EVER, has every excuse in the book as to why they did not show up and then when you finally get to the point where you have had it, they refuse to give back you deposit. After the fact I discovered that they do this on a regular basis, leaving a string of broken commitments and refusal to make good.

Full disclosure, I was not actually a customer as the service was never rendered. Let me explain. I arranged to have my house power washed at 9 am on a Saturday morning. That morning, I closed all the windows and waited... I had no idea just how long I would be waiting. At 8:54, I received a text saying that another job was taking longer and they would arrive no later than 11 am. A little annoying but things do come up. I gave the benefit of the doubt. At 12:08, I received a call saying that the job ran even longer than originally thought but they were on the way. At most, maybe 20 minutes. An HOUR and a HALF later, the man showed up and gave me an estimate. However, he needed to go get the ladder to do the job. What company goes to a job without all the necessary equipment? I just wanted my house cleaned so I said okay. Finally an hour later, I had enough of my day wasted and I texted him back saying I did not want the service. He called and said he was ready to go and about 5 minutes away... yeah right, I did not believe he knew the concept of time. I refused the service and discount he was planning to give me... and he hung up on me!! The nerve! The company website talks about the customer being so important... not so much. I then received a lengthy text saying he wanted to end this on a good note... he should have thought about that before wasting my time and hanging up on me. He offered another discount which he says he never gives (I have a feeling he does it all the time) but I refused. I wish I could give no stars!! Save your money and sanity... find another company that values their customers.

Stunningly poor service.

We hired O'Brien Landscaping to clear our yard of leaves and debris in November. Essentially, they did an okay job of cleaning the yard (if you ignore the huge amounts of crap they blew onto our back porch and all over our neighbor's driveway) but then left everything piled by the street with the promise to come pick it up the next day.



That was right around Thanksgiving. It's still here. Also, they never did the weeding on the side and rear gardens that we specifically paid them an additional $40. Yeah, you read that right. Paid. We paid them upfront. Yes, I know that's dumb.



So now we're left with this lovely pile of crap in front of our house. The owner texted me January 1st promising to clean it up and to give us a "service credit" for our troubles.



So, for anyone thinking of doing business with O'Brien Landscaping in West Hartford, I highly recommend you reconsider. Or better yet, pay some neighborhood kids to build a pile of crap in your front yard and leave it there. It'll be a lot cheaper.

Awesome Company! As usual theyve done an exceptional job for us. Great Communication, the owner is always on the jobsite personally making sure everything goes great and that were always happy with the job. They have already been back to do our leaves for the third time this season for one flat rate. I get compliments on our yard by all our family and neighbors that it looks like a park. They also came to our aid for the fluke snow we had a few weeks ago and plowed us out at the beginning and end of the storm. If we get snow tommorrow as planned I know the crew will be here taking care of buisness as usual. 100 % satisfaction with O'Brien Landscaping, a great hire, no regrets, a thousand times I recommend them to all who are in need of leaf and snow plow services. This Company did an excellent job at my home, VERY PLEASED!!!

Over the summer I called O'Brien Landscaping to do my lawn mowing and a clean-up service. My husband and I are getting older and cannot do it ourselved anymore. My son found us this company and set up a time for them to come to the house. They gave us a free estimate and a great price for weekly lawnmowing where I was able to send him a check once a month and they gave us a great deal on a clean-up of our yard. They came every week on time as promised and did an excellent job on our lawn, all of our neighbors complimented and 2 of our neighbors have recently signed up with this company after seeing the work done at our home. We also just had our driveway sealed by Obrien landscaping, they just finished today and it came out great. My husband and I are very happy with there work and affordability. We will be using them for fall and winter services. If you need a good landscaper, this is the company I strongly recommend. They make it easy.

I will definitely be using O'Brien Landscaping Co. West Hartford CT for all of my upcoming projects and I have already signed up for fall leaf removal and snow plowing services. I am very happy to continue working with this company. I recently had my entire lawn re-seeded,designed and landscaped by O'Brien Landscaping. Out of all the companys I called they seemed the most professional over the phone, got back to me within a 24 hour period, set up an appointment with me that same week for a free estimate. The day of the estimate, a younger gentleman (the companys owner) arrived which made me a little un easy at first. After speaking with him at my property for a little over an hour I was very pleased with his professionalism and knowledge of the business. As it turned out he also gave me the best price for the work I wanted done out of the 3 other comppanys I had come out to my property. I had several trees and large hedges removed, my entire yard re-seeded, designed and landscaped all by O'brien Landscaping. They also created 3 flower beds with landscape timber upon my request that my wife absolutely loved. The job was done in a timely manner, for an excellent price. I was respected with 100% communication and courtesy throughout the entire job. I am very happy I went with my gut and decided to give Chris from O'Brien Landscaping a chance. I could not be happier with his work and look forward to continuing business with him for leaf removal and snow plowing. I strongly suggest you give this young businessman a chance, you will not regret it.

I would hire this company in a heartbeat. We needed a lot of work done around our business, and it looked wonderful when they finished with it. The landscaping was impeccible and clean up looked extremely professional. Even the smallest details were taken care of, and all at a very reasonable price. They were timely and got the job done when expected. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I recently had my yard done O'Brien Landscaping and they did a terrible job. They half mowed the lawn, and did not touch up any area in the front or the back yard. They took the money and never looked back eventhough I contacted them 4-5 times the day the finished the job and several days that followed. In short if a company does not take pride in the small neighborhood jobs they solicit relentlessly every year, they definitely shouldn't be trusted for any bigger jobs. I chose a West Hartford business because I live in West Hartford and I felt they would have pride in their work--- what a joke! I will never call this company to do ANY work on my property in the future. If you want quality work seek out another company!

If you like doing business with a company that takes $280 of your money and never perfoms the services (wrought iron painting and fall leaf clean up) this is the company for you. If you are looking a company that refuses to return your calls and when they do, the owners wife lies to yours on a weekly basis.I cannot convey my utter disgust with O'Brien Landscaping and their horrible business ethics.
