Initially , I walked into the store and went over to a group of employees standing by the Apple watches to direct me to the Genius bar for an appointment I had for 7:30pm for a screen replacement. I was told that they were unavailable for questions and I had to find someone else to help me . Taken aback by the gual of the three of them , I walked over to a lady with an iPad in hand and asked to speak to a manager . She then told me she was a manage and could help me in just a moment . She walked over to a couple and talked to them for a bit around 4-5 minutes , then walked over to the phone case display and began rearrnaing items that had been misplaced . I stood there waiting for an additional 4-5 minutes in awe of her attention span . She proceeded to walk around the store and ask customers how they were doing , giving them great big smiles and even said hello to someone's baby that was walking in behind the childs father . I continued to wait . Another young lady walked in the store and the manger IMMEDIATELY walked up to her and asked how she could help . I couldn't control my disbelief and scoffed at her inablity to remember she put off helping me for close to 15 minutes befor attemtpting to help me . The laugh caught her attention and she turned to me and looked at me as though she was puzzled at my response . Prompting me to ask "Uhh, dis you forget Imve been standing here waiting for you to help me with my Genius bar appointment?" She finally remembered and pointed me over the the Genius bar and said someone would be with me shortly . By now its exactly 7:25p . There was a young man and a teen with his grandparent already being helped so I sat patiently and waited . After the two parties had been helped by the Genius Bar associates BOTH associates walked away without saying so much as a word to me . I continued to wait . 35 minutes go by with no one asking me about the help I needed , making eye contact or even saying hello . Finally at 8:10pm I stood up and very louldy asked to speak to a manager . The same curly haired space cadet that oringally forgot I existed came over and asked for me to remain "professional" and asked what I needed . At this point , I lost it . I began to explain the horrible service I had been getting and how I was appalled that the top grossing company in the world could hire such representatives that were obviously unable of servicing any customer needs . At this point a man named Eric walked over and asked if he could help me somehow . He mentioned he noticed my work badge (I work for Nationwide Insurance) and related to me about his father also working there . He tried , and was admittedly effective in calming me down . From my frustration he decided he was going to completely replace my phone for the price of the screen replacement (200$ difference). He was able to turn the remainder of my visit around and did it with charm and great sincerity. Although I am thouroughly disappointed with Apple's service at the Des Moines, IA store , I am happy they have at least ONE qualified representative
