I manage a small apartment complex and needed a heating and air company well I found a gem. Ron and his employees have helped me keep my tenants very happy. They are a small locally owned company that is very customer oriented. They don’t try to sell you something you don’t need or want. The technicians explain things so that the customer who knows nothing can understand it. They also go above and beyond.
Just a quick example of above and beyond .... Chris and Carol 2 of Ron’s techs came out to service all my units well when they got done with mine ( I had to leave and go to work earlier) they couldn’t find 2 of my small dogs so they would not leave thinking they accidentally let them out they searched outside and inside till they finally found them sleeping under their blankets lol. I don’t know of any other company that the techs would take the time to actually do that.
So if you are looking for a HVAC company that actually cares about its customers this is it.

True story. I was in need of a H&A company but was unsure who to call. After asking around, Ron Johnson's Heating and Air was mentioned several times. Everyone said he was honest, fair, reliable and did excellent work. I made an appt and one of the company's workers (Keith) came to my home. He immediately diagnosed the problem (blown motor) and quoted me a price to fix it. Keith was extremely professional and even had his daughter along who was his apprentice, which I thought was the coolest thing ever. Both Keith and his daughter went above and beyond the call of duty.
I was somewhat hesitant about spending $800 on a 17 yr old unit and they quoted me a price for a new unit. I told them I wanted to think about it before I made a decision. Two days later I had a larger and well known company come to my house to inspect my unit. They told me the same thing (blown motor) and quoted me a price THREE times higher than what Ron Johnson's company quoted me for a new unit.
Several lessons learned that day. If numerous people are telling you the same thing (Ron Johnson's H&A is the best) then they must be on to something. If you want to go with a larger and well known company, then be willing to pay much more for the same product in order to help them pay for their advertising.

Expedient service with a smile, and patience. Keith and Kandis were polite enough to explain how HVAC systems worked, and how to properly run them at optimal levels. They expedited the repairs on our residence, saving my family from the torrent of heat that is “Famously Hot” Columbia. Ron Johnson fielded my call after the job was done, and was an absolute professional gentleman. Losing HVAC in the middle of summer is a nightmare, espcecially when you have a small child, but not for us thanks to Ron Johnson Heating and Air Conditioning.

I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received from Ron Johnson Heating & Air. I was previously told by another HVAC company that my upstairs unit needed to be replaced. Ron and his team came to my home to evaluate the unit and were able to repair it at a fraction of the cost of a new system. Five Years ago, I had to replace my entire unit as well as all the duct work in my house. I called several of the top companies in the Columbia area and several smaller companies. All came out and met with me and gave me estimates. It was obvious it was going to be an expensive and involved project. Ron was by far no where near the cheapest estimate but I knew after meeting him that I would receive the best service possible and not be let down. Ron and his team all are very knowledgeable and friendly and all take seriously their job and keeping their customers happy. The massive install of my new system went smoothly and I was always keep informed of the progress. I subscribe to their warranty service which has them coming to service and maintain my unit twice a year and gives a 10 year warranty on all labor. You will Not find that with any other provider in the area. For 5 years I have been totally happy with no problems. Just recently, My unit was vandalized in an attempt to steal the copper. The unit was fried. Ron came out immediately and worked on the unit working with me to keep all costs down and helping with making my insurance claim. I just cannot imagine any of the Large companies in the area providing that kind of service. I highly recommend Ron and his team. You truly get with you pay for and with them, you will not be let down. They are trustworthy and honest with you and work hard to make you happy. Give them a call, you won't regret it.

Called Ron on a Sunday when my unit stopped cooling. First Ron himself tried to help me trouble shoot the problem over the phone. Then he had a man there within two hours. He couldn't fix it that day because of a part it being Sunday. Next day got the bad news that the repair of the existing unit was not justified due to the cost. At mid-day the folks at Ron's arranged financing with great rates right over the phone. Then they had a new unit delivered, and installed by about 6:30 that evening. Fortunately for us the duct work had already been replaced by Ron's guys and was all ready to accept the upgraded unit. And what a difference a new, efficient, properly sized unit makes. We would definitely recommend Ron Johnson Heating and Air. They get it done.

In January 2013, Ron and his crew replaced all our ductwork and the heating/AC unit. When the work was done we immediately noticed that the heat was more even and the unit ran less than our old one. Now that it is air conditioner season we are quite happy with the indoor temperature and the lower run time for the unit. I would recommend Ron to anyone that needs a new Heating/AC unit. I have had an annual Ron for several years and have been completely satisfied with Ron and his team. The quality of his work is outstanding.

I can't believe it!!! There really is a Santa!! A good friend of mine told me to check out this company. He had a unit recently installed by them. I clicked on their website and checked their holiday specials this year on new units. My wife and I have been under the gun wondering just how we was gonna make it through xmas. We immediately called their office. Not only did they accomodate us they even had financing available and it was a very smooth transition. The technicans came out within 48 hours and installed a new system 3 ton, 13 seer, 410a for just $3100.00!!! Yes folks, my wife and I could not believe it after being quoted by three other companies after researching thoroughly for the past few days. They where as much as 50% difference in pricing. The system is working perfectly, and we also have 10 parts warranty with the unit. We signed their maintenance agreement and every year we maintain with them, we get an additional free year of labor up to 10 years they said. Thank you so much Greg for introducing us to this company. Ron Johnson heating is truely a real Santa!!!!

We found our existing HVAC sys...

We found our existing HVAC system rusting and in need of replacement. I called 4 different HVAC companies for quotes to replace my rusted units and all else that goes with it. After looking at quotes, only Ron Johnson had a full breakdown of what he proposed. I had narrowed it down to 2 companies Ron Johnson being one. Well, my neighbor had the same problem and went with the other guys. We went with Ron Johnson and boy we are glad we did. Ron Johnson finished the job after replacing it “all” under my house. Ron’s crew came early and worked late each day until he job was completed! My neighbor had the "other guys" out every week long after doing the same type job at his house. Week after week we would see the “other guys” trucks next store working on their new system trying to fix the bugs’. The thing is they are still having trouble with their system while ours hasn't missed a beat. Ron Johnson Heating and Air is the only way to go in my book!

These guys *definitely* get the job done. They're very committed to doing things right the first time, even if it takes twice as long. It seems they're also willing to work late hours to get the problem solved. It's 10pm, and a crew of three just left my place after being here three hours fixing a blown AC. Their willingness to work late may be something to consider when making an appointment if you have kids or need to have your evenings free, so just be sure to specify what times are good for you. Over all though, I give these guys an A.

I would no longer recommend Ron Johnson Heating and Air. When he began his services, I trusted and followed his recommendations. Now that his business has grown, he has got very cocky and enjoys arguing with a customer. I expect paying him for two preventative services a year that my system should NOT on a regular basis freeze up. Over the last several weeks, the unit he sold me has consistently froze up and reached 96 degrees in the house. I called and follow his instructions as well as his staff. He is suppose to be the expert and professional. So he allowed me to sit in a 96 degree house even though he live less than 2 miles from my house on a Saturday because he was too busy to provide World Class Service as he claims. He can not handle a customer who is up-set and rather resolve the issue attacks the customer's and attempt to put the blame on the customer and hangs up on them. I will not use him anymore and looking for a true professional. I am sure he will attempt to remove this review because he encourages people to only write good reviews. He stated if I wrote a negative review, he would sue me. I bet half are from his personal friends and/or family.

What Mr. Kenneth Burton failed to tell you was he had a new system put in back in 2008 and since that time; Mr. Burton has had only one incident beforehand of a break down (invoice# 1221-533, 9/2/2011, blower capacitor replaced). My company was available to him in less than 1 hour for repair. Mr. Burton states he has had problems for last several weeks on a regular basis, if this is true, why has he not contacted the company? Why for 5 years, been yearly customer of ours with no complaints? I would not keep a company that continued to produce issues with my system, would you? Any time when someone calls for our services needed and they are on a contract with us yearly we provide and always will provide service to you same day 24/7, just as I tried to do for Mr. Kenneth Burton. The company is not responsible for your unit to never break down. That’s why you have a parts warranty in case of breakdowns. I will gladly assist anyone after hours on the phone and we will gladly get a technician out to your home if needed. As the owner and I do not go out on calls any longer. But we do have technicians on call. People are always entitled to their own opinions. You can't please everyone even if you try. But disrespect such as Mr. Kenneth Burton will get you nowhere in my business. I have no problem speaking the truth with all my customers. Just allow me respect when you call me and my staff and we will always provide you professional service. Thank you, folks for listening. For the past two years we have...

For the past two years we have had a "Energy Savings Agreement " with Ron Johnson Heating & Air. During this period Ron's crew gave my HVAC system a through cleaning and inspection.This kept the system running with only one failure during this period. When I had a problem and called for help on a 90+ day the company responded within hours and had my system running again. He does deliver on his promise to give his ESA customers priority service when needed.



Over the years Ron educated me as to how air systems should be installed and how they could be more efficient when done properly. We discussed our air system and the uneven heating and cooling within our house. Ron took the time and pointed out to me that the duct system installed by the contractor when the house was built was two small for the size unit we had.They could improve the air system by correcting the size of the duct work and zoning the upper level so that it would run independent of the lower level and still use the existing air handler.

We finally gave him the okay and he and his crew worked with precision, each doing their own task and within a few days our uneven air flow was gone. In addition, because of the new insulated ducts and the masking of all seams the energy loss in the transport system is now minimum. This has improved the efficiency of the system dramatically. We can actually feel heat and cool air coming from our registers and the best part is the system runs less.

We now have gone through a complete season and I can honestly say that the rework paid for itself in comfort and most important lower energy cost.

We would definitely agree with all the other reviews seen here! We have been living in a 100 year old house in downtown Columbia for 8 years. We have never been able to get uniform heating or cooling in our upstairs (which is on a separate unit). We had service agreements with other AC companies and they never once mentioned the fact that our duct system was too small, poorly positioned and leaking in some areas. Most companies would want to try to sell a bigger unit, but Ron only recommended replacing the duct work and repositioning a main duct down the middle of our attic instead of two going down each side of the house. The insulation and sealing of the duct work was amazing. Ron's team was on time, very professional and left the house looking better than what they found it! The work was completed in 2 days. We have been able to set our thermostat at a much higher temperature while being much more comfortable. The unit does not turn on nearly as much as it used to and all the rooms are more uniform in temperature. A surprising extra is that we are able to turn up the temperature on the downstairs unit as well! We are looking forward to our first electric bill to see the savings!



We like the fact that pictures are taken of your system and kept on file so that if you have problems, you can communicate problems over the phone...and if you do need work done you can see before and after.



So if you are in need of a company to do yearly maintenance or in need of emergency repair - or even thinking of building...give a call and at least talk to Ron.

Ron Johnson did a great job in...

Ron Johnson did a great job installing 2 units (2x air handler + compressors ) and completely removing and replacing air ducts throughout the large 2 story house. The workers, led by Carol, worked (almost too) hard to do all of this within a few days, working from early in the morning until late in the evening in very hot summer weather (very hot attic). When examining the ducts they all appear completely sealed with large amounts of mastic sealing them at every joint. Ron also explained they install in such a way as to maximize air flow and not create sudden blockages/stubs along the trunk. Ron also explained the protection mechanism in the attic to avoid any dripping of the air handler onto the ceilings of the rooms below. All trash from the old system was removed from my yard even before the job was finished. The workers were extremely polite and very careful not leave a mess or bang walls as they carried ladders and materials up into the upstairs attic.

The system was installed a year ago, so I can safely say it has worked great for a full year already, without even a minor problem. This is a big house with probably not great insulation form outside, and yet the system has no trouble generating great air flow in both stories. You can feel immediate "waist high" cool airflow even from the furthest vents from the air handler. Also I like to set the temp to 80F during the day when no one is around, and then down to 76 in the evening, and the system cools to setpoint quickly. During the winter heating worked perfectly. Basically no problems at all and impressive performance.

The energy expenditure seems excellent, and only slightly higher electricity bills than my old house , which was half the size. It's hard to compare as far the new house itself, because the old system was virtually defunct when I bought the house.

Some other plusses, Ron expanded the air intake to a huge size, to guarantee excellent flow (you could almost fit inside it). There is no air filter's everywhere you need to replace, there is just a central in-line air filter now, for each system. Carol came out to service the system once already, with no problems seen. There are no leaks in the duct work, which just throws electricity literally out the window. Obviously with new completely sealed duct work and good filtration, there are not dusty old ducts to put dust and pollutants in the air, so the air is very clean in the house.

So bottom line is, for my situation where I was replacing a whole system, and thinking of long term both in economics and comfort , Ron Johnson is the guy you can trust will deliver a perfect job with no fuss or trouble thereafter. You will be able to tell quickly from his attitude that he just wants to do a perfect job. I highly recommend his company.
