Owner John P. Scoglio has over 30 years experience as both a boat dealer, and marina owner/operator. John started Islander Boat Center while he was successfully managing his Marina: The Bergen Point Yacht Basin, located on the Great South Bay in West Babylon. John has incorporated the Marina into Islander Boat Center as their South Shore location for Parts, Service and Delivery Center. Since 1992, Islander Boat Center has experienced record breaking growth. This success is due to a combination of experience, professionalism, and priority commitment to customer satisfaction. Islander has been graced with some of the top awards from our Manufacturers, including the Brunswick President's Award For Outstanding Service, awarded to Islander Boat Center by U.S. Marine, and voted Five Star Dealer of the Year by Motor Boating and Sailing Magazine the same year. We are Long Island's only Dual Platinum Dealer for outstanding service on both outboard and stern drive Mercury products. Islander has grown to include our own In-House Finance Department, making it even easier for our customers to attain financing for their purchase. This continues to be the case, even in today's economy. Today, along with the Bergen Point Yacht Basin, Islander Boat Center has grown to be the second largest dealership on Long Island. In 2000, John built a new, larger, Showroom at 185 West Montauk Hwy. in Lindenhurst. Since January, 2002, this location has housed all Islander Boat Lines. Also in 2000 Islander Boat Center opened our Port Jefferson location at 217 West Broadway (Rt. 25A), only 500 yards west of the Port Jefferson / Bridgeport (Connecticut) Ferry. All our boat lines are on display at this multi-level location. In addition, the Port Jefferson building has become Islander Boat Center's North Shore Service and Delivery location, and most recently, become our Customer Service location, handling the needs of Long Island Boat Owners from Manhattan to Montauk. Continuing to give our customers the very best in value, product and customer satisfaction was realized in 2003, when Islander Boat Center became one of only a handful of US Marine dealers to attain "Gold Dealer" standing in US Marines new Pro-Dealer program. The award was based on proficiency in Sales, Service, Parts, Delivery and how the dealership handles themselves in customer service. While only five dealers in the nation reached Gold status, Islander was commended for our Parts Department, which scored higher than any other Parts Department in the country. Once more, the way our Warranty Department handles customers and warranty claims was scrutinized by US Marine and is now the standard by which all other dealerships are to run their Warranty Departments. In 2008, Islander Boat Center expanded again by creating a satellite location at the Hidden Cove Marina in Noyack, New York, Just south of historic Sag Harbor on the East End of Long Island. Now, Hamptons Residents have access to our complete inventory of Boats. For North Fork residents can take the North & South ferries across Shelter Island and our new location is just minutes away off Noyack Road on Pine Neck Avenue. All of our Sales Staff are professionally trained and all service department mechanics are educated bi-annually by all major manufacturers, including Bayliner, Trophy, Maxum, Mercury, Hino and Cummins.
