Worst car buying experience ever. Matt Own the salesman lied about delivery date, price, and financing. Ray the finance manager talked down to us and Scott the general manager dismissed my concerns and said he encourages that kind of behavior because they are just about making money.

Not your average sales or service..but worse

This place has the worse prices and service around. I wouldn't recommend or purchase a car from them even if they where the last dealership around. Unfortunately half the staff are know it alls, and will treat you like dirt, and they break cars more when the "fix" them! Good luck if you want to do business at Long for anything!

With a fairly solid reputation for reliability and safety I desired to own a Subaru for several years. The opportunity arose 18 months ago when 20 years of pickup trucks was no longer practical or necessary for me. My local dealer, Long Subaru in Webster, Massachusetts had the exact vehicle for me although at somewhat of a premium cost. A very nicely appointed three year old Outback with less than 60,000 miles was perfect for my needs. Approximately 90% of my driving is easy highway miles and I was looking forward to several years of very pleasant driving.

I was VERY badly mistaken.

After less than a month the vehicle began running rough and after only three months I found myself facing a host of repairs including shredded belts, leaking head gaskets and a cracked block. It is my opinion that this dealership was most likely aware of problems with this vehicle when it was sold to me but concentrated on cosmetic improvements rather than mechanical to insure the salability.

It also became quickly apparent to me that the dealership and I differed wildly on the concept of what a certified pre-owned vehicle is or should be.

I wanted to be placed in another vehicle as I felt this one would continue to be a problem but the dealership was flatly against that. I was assured that the car would be fixed properly and I would be pleased. WRONG! The saga continued with a laundry list of constant repairs and aggravation. My confidence in both Subaru and Long Subaru in Webster, Massachusetts declined at a constant rate.

After about a year I revisited the showroom to trade the vehicle in for a new Impreza. I, again, wrongly thought that with a year of non-stop problems they would be willing to at least give me some extra financial compensation with a new car purchase………I could not have been more mistaken. I left Long Subaru in Webster, Massachusetts insulted and convinced that I would never own another Subaru.

Another several additional months of constant aggravation with my vehicle I opted for a costly total tune-up and service with the hope that it would help make the bleeding stop. Again – I could not have been more wrong. A few weeks later this vehicle left me 50 miles from home in an impending snow storm without oil after dropping a cam plug.

Through the entire ownership of this vehicle there was a power train warranty in place that did cover much of the major work but with that soon to end, the thought of driving this vehicle even out of my garage was horrifying. After only 18 months of financially and emotionally draining Subaru ownership I have disposed of this car.

After 40+ years of car ownership I have never been so disappointed in a car manufacturer or an automobile dealership.

It is highly unlikely that neither I nor anyone I know will ever own a Subaru and even more unlikely that neither I nor anyone I know will ever consider Long Subaru in Webster, Massachusetts for any automotive needs.

While car shopping is enjoyabl...

While car shopping is enjoyable for some - it is not for me. I'm always the 'friend' taken along when others are shopping so I have experienced the car sales tactics of other places, including Patrick (word of advise, if your customer asks for her keys back GIVE THEM TO HER, don't make her ask twice!), MetroWest (the salesman actually told us that his sales team doesn't like to wait on 'girls', because it was a waste of time. Oh gee, thanks). At Long it is different. I bought all my cars by myself, they all say hi when I come in for service and even remembered that I couldn't afford my dream Subaru when I bought a used car there a few years ago - stopped me when I was leaving service and pointed out a tradein they had just got that was perfect for me. I think it took about 15min to come to a deal and all my friends were impressed with the results! Why I never wrote a review before I can't say, but I was looking up their number and saw the other review and that's not been the experience I had a all.

Horrible Experience

This has got to be the worst used car buying experience I've ever had. The sales manager was condescending and rude (intimidation sales tactics) that I ended up leaving instead of purchasing the car I was interested in. Before you go to this dealer, check out Patrick Subaru nearby or North End Subaru in Lunenburg. Their cars are in overall better condition (the cars I test drove here were beat up inside and out, and/or had mechanical problems, despite their claim that they had been fully serviced and repaired). Most importantly of all, these dealers treated me with respect and answered my questions without getting in my face and shouting.
