I just completed my first 8 classes (16 hours) with Spanish Blackbelt at the Green Belt/Intermediate Level. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I first enrolled in the course; Spanish was my undergraduate major, and since I do place myself on the lower end of the fluency continuum, it was important to me that I find a tutor and curriculum that would challenge me without stressing me out, facilitate my growth as a second-language learner, and remain convenient and flexible given my crazy work schedule. I can honestly say Spanish Blackbelt surpassed all of my expectations. My tutor was Maria Elena - she is absolutely fantastic. She went out of her way to find me Spanish materials relevant to my career and was constantly recommending different resources that would further facilitate my learning. She's passionate about what she does, and her fun and caring disposition makes the course that much more enjoyable. You feel like you're meeting with an old friend to chat with them in Spanish over Skype, not your Spanish tutor. She truly cares about student progress and growth. I won't go to another tutor again! As for the course itself, much of it was a review for me at this level, but it was a worthwhile and valuable review. The syllabus is centered around conversational skills, so your tutor can easily modify the lesson to challenge you more during those two hours, should you need it. I realize this is quite the review.. but I felt it was well deserved. I only hope the courses that follow are just as good, because the bar has definitely been set!
