A real hobby store where the owner is there to help you and yes he sometimes brings his dog. The best thing is the person behind the counter knows what he is talking about and can make good recommendations because he likes this stuff too. I have gone to the chain hobby stores and ordered online but I don't get any of the insights or an awesome short cut, tip, suggestion that another "enthusiast" can offer. This is a real hobby store, if its not on the shelf they can get it quick but more importantly they can actually answer questions and share the same enjoyment as I do. Neat store and the candy guy is fun if you bring the kids, also they have cup cakes which looked very interesting, next time I go I will try those.

I personally wouldn't be so quick to believe a bad review about this place. The last time I was there was when I was a kid, so of course it could have changed, but from what I remember, Phil was very nice, and helpful. The store is in a cute little mall area in beautiful Wautoma, and he had a good selection. As for the prices, I can't comment because 1. Hobby shops are often expensive and 2. I seem to have a slight memory of it being expensive when I was a kid, but I can't be sure.

awkward, narrow, disorganized....

awkward, narrow, disorganized. A full size black dog is kept behind the counter. the dog barked the entire time we were in the part of the mall that is Phil's. essentially the set up is one store front on Main street, no parking on Main Street. Gravel parking beside the store. Four vendors playing store in a divided store front. Each area has a store name and is almost too narrow for a normal size woman in a coat carrying a purse. One sells media like used cd's, video games, dvd's. One sells 800 different kinds of candy (interesting). One sells 'ugly cupcakes' or so the sign said, one is a big old guy selling craft supplies, model building supplies and models. He bellowed out some prices on silver to a young lady who brought him a silver quarter. I hope she walked away and didn't believe his 'quote'. He's a big guy, speaks loud and the space is tiny where a customer will be cornered by him as he points out every item he sells, as did the guy in the candy store. This may be the only place in town to buy some sewing notions and craft supplies but I am not from town and will happily shop elsewhere, not paying their prices. The best example is: 60 cents for embroidery floss that retails at 20 cents in a thousand other stores in central WI. I will not go back. Parents be warned... the 800 different candies are all in reach of the kids and the first thing you see when walking in.
