Established in 1941, the Waterford Fire Department works to provide fire prevention and suppression and emergency medical services. It operates more than four fire stations that house fire engines, advanced life support rescue vehicles, aerial ladder trucks and command vehicles. The department is comprised of more than 60 full-time firefighters, paramedics and auxiliary members. The Waterford Fire Department operates a communication center that has multichannel, programmable radios that assist in coordinating responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls for service. It also conducts several public safety and fire prevention programs. The department maintains a technical rescue unit and employs several honor guards. The Waterford Fire Department is located in Waterford, Mich.
