I cannot speak highly enough of A & M. Gasoline was leaking through the carburetor on my generator. Jim came out and took it to his shop. After he looked over the machine thoroughly (the leaking had stopped at his place) he recommended I not buy a new carburetor. He could have easily sold me one, but was honest and helped me save some money. He was extremely patient when explaining how it all works and what I need to do in the future to care for the machine. He did change the oil, air filter and a few other maintenance things and charged me so little, I gave him more than he asked. He actually called me to say I had overpaid him! He's the most honest, intelligent, patient repairperson I have ever met. I definitely recommend A & M Small Engine.

During the middle of snow season 2013, I needed emergency repairs to my snow blower. I surfed the web and came up with a couple of local businesses to email. Jim was the first to respond (others took 4-7 days) and he agreed to come by ASAP to check out the machine. Diagnosis was not immediately evident; so he came back, picked up the snow blower and brought it to his shop. He was excellent about keeping me informed of his progress and updating me about costs before he did anything. Long story short, there were no major issues, except I shouldn't wait ten years to get a tune up! Overall I was very happy with pricing and prompt, courteous, competent service. Mine was only a small job, and I told I wasn't in any hurry since he was swamped with work. Two days later I got a call that my mower was finished. Great work and great service can' ask for anything better than that.

Jim Costa handles everything dealing with his business in a very professional manner and stands by his work. I had done an engine swap on a 52 inch Great Dane commercial mower and i went from a 25 hp Kohler (shattered connecting rods and hole in block) to a 33 hp Generac engine (Kohler $2900/ Generac $1500 shipped) and had a friend of mine rewire it for me. While i was using it to mow a customers lawn i accidentally shorted the system and that was only my 3rd time using it. My friend was busy so he could not check it for me. Since then i had a couple people look at it but it was a no go and the mower sat in front of the house in Millbury.MA for the longest time. Well to make a long story shorter, Jim got it running again with an electrical friend of his and reworked the wiring and now the machine is running awesome! Any wiring issues or electrical problems you have let him have a go at it, i am sure that you won't regret it. Jim's labor rate is lower than the competition and his customer service is excellent. I am very grateful for the work that got done on my machine and best of all now i can make money with it. Jim i will definitely bring you more business. Thank you.

Jim Costa is a really outstanding person and professional who gives you absolutely his best (and he is excellent) at all points of contact and service. Despite 3 other small engine repair folks not being able to correctly diagnose and then repair my John Deere L108 Lawn Tractor (Briggs & Stratton 18.5hp OHV), he methodically laid out an excellent troubleshooting approach that, in short order had a perfectly accurate and complete diagnosis and quickly remedied the problem.



In fact, additionally, all aspects of this engine were reviewed and modified as needed and the lawn tractor now works perfectly.



He clearly explains what he plans to do, keeps you up to speed on all his findings in a timely and simple/direct way and even prepares his findings, bill and receipts on perfect order.



I cannot remember any other time receiving this degree of excellence, bravo to you Jim, well earned!
