My name is Emily, I am 25 years old and in the past have worked at a home care facility so i realize the time and loving care needed to help another human being. My grandma and grandpa are and were tenants at this nursing home. My grandma recently died in this facility, though i do not blame her death on the environment, i am positive it could not have helped her condition however. Walking into this facility it seems charming. walking further in to where the residents live the smell of urine up and down the halls, and throughout the entire living areas is enough to turn your stomach. Visiting inside my grandpas room and his neighbors, a peice of your heart breaks off when you watch them try to laugh off the smell. My own eyes were watering so badly from the intense smell that i could find anyway to respond to these weak chuckles except a sob. My grandpa, my other half growing up, was living in a room with windows that would not open so his only other choice to try and air out smell was to leave his door open. After spending the day there, i was nausious and had a severe migraine. Never once did i see a nurse or aid with a tenant there, although coming in i was sure i had seen a front desk area. As i left i observed a group with 6 to 7 staff standing around making jokes and talking about how something disgusted them. I didnt not hear the topic of this converstation but it made me light headed to imagine they were going to take care of my grandpa once i walked out. My grandpa told me he doesnt want to be there, he doesnt like the people, they wont let him leave, and he doesnt like the food...........i cant take him out, it is not in my control but in the hands of my aunts. i didnt know what to say, i cried with him knowing that i could not save him from this place or another one like it............i hope you save yours
