wish I could save them all

I have visited the facility several times as I have the others in the area. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the care given the animals. I have seen more animals walk out that door and papers signed for others to go to a new home than at any other place. They do "not" stop caring when that animal walks out that door. You are told there is a door open if need be. They want you to want your new family member because that is what they are! I have adopted several dogs from them, some very abused, and have received so much love returned from these throwaways. Their previous owners have now idea on the love and devotion they miss out on. When I have more room I will definitely come for more love from one of their patiently waiting animals. J Ambuehl

I LOVE them!

No matter what other people say, I love this shelter! I have been working with them for almost a year now and I have worked with quite a few shelters. FFOA has been the best!

These animals we rescue are often strays that are rescued off the streets and people need to understand that there are many underlying conditions that may not show up for many months or years down the road. Sometimes people bring us animals and fail to mention health issues that they may have, and we can't do anything about that! We can't predict the future! When you adopt an animal from the shelter, you sign the contract and take on any health responsibility. Those who truly care about adopting will understand.

Many people come to the shelter just looking for a cheap animal, (many people think they are free). Fayette County is very notorious for being cheap and we are very picky about who we adopt our animals out to.

We put lots of medical care and love into our animals. Our shelter is CLEAN and our animals don't usually die right after you get them like many other shelters!

My dog had parvo when I got him from a shelter and i spent hundred upon hundreds of dollars getting him health again!

As far as the heart condition, i'm sure if we would have known...we would have taken care of the situation while the dog was in our custody. We had a toy pomeranian that the shelter paid $1700.00 for heart surgeries and treatment at ohio state university...and thats not the first dog we have done it for!

it's a great shelter!!

I AGREE !!

I went to the shelter to get a dog for my daughter. The lady there asked me what I was looking for. I told her I wanted a dog for my 7 year old and I wanted to adopt rather than buy from a pet store. We have a large house and a yard, so I was not particular about breed or size. She quickly snapped back that they didnt have anyhting that would suit my "situation" and would not even let me look at the dogs.
