Over the years, services expanded well beyond the La Crosse, WI, area and membership eligibility expanded to include more than Trane employees. In 2005, the credit union was renamed Altra Federal Credit Union. The name was chosen to reflect the increased diversity of our membership while honoring our history by combining the words alliance, Trane, allegiance, and tradition. Today, Altra serves members in all 50 states and locations worldwide.

If find your dream home and the seller is ready to close, dont waist valuable time with Altra. Instead, find a better lender, even if you have been pre-approved. After collecting and processing my application and credit information, they started stating how busy they were and that it would take at least 45 days to close. I became skeptical and decided to check with another local bank. I provided this other bank with the same exact documentation that I had given Altra. I was not surprise that this other bank approved my application in less than one week and I was also able to close within the following week. In addition, I received valuable financial advice and loan options, which helped make the best choice for a mortgage. If you want good customer service, if time is important to you, and most of all, if you need a lender who will be looking for your interest by providing you with clear and sound financial advice regarding mortgage terms, then do stay away from Altra.
