bad experience

My husband and I went there for the $35 couples massage for our birthdays (they fall within a week of each other, so we celebrated on one day). The atmosphere was nice, the decor was inviting, and we were met with smiles. The massages were great, but when the ladies began doing the pedicures, they brought out this tool that looked like a hand-held cheese grater and went to town on our feet (mine weren't bad, but my husband had a very hard callus, so they charged $6 additional). Eventually the technician complimented me on how beautiful my natural nails looked and tried to upsell me on getting Shellac. I politely declined, but my hubby, ignorant to the price, encouraged me to get it because it was our birthday; I declined a second time, and he insisted. I then asked the tech how long it was supposed to last, and when she said "Two weeks," I agreed to do it and pick out the color. It was beautiful when she finished, but the whole friggin thing cost $114, and our feet were still rough. She then told me to come back to her when I needed it taken off or wanted the color changed.

Less than a week later, the Shellac started peeling at the cuticle; at first it wasn't too bad, a little chip here and there. But then it started getting worse, and half the nail polish started coming off; it began catching onto my hair and even pulled some out. Eight days after it was done, I called the salon back to complain, and the guy, we'll just call him "Manager," said "We only guarantee Shellac for one week." I explained what the lady who did my nails said, and he said "It doesn't matter; we only guarantee it for a week." No apology, no effort to make things right, just attitude and empty promises. So I got irritated and told him that I wanted him to take this junk off, I wasn't paying for it, and that my husband and I would not be returning. He told me to come in the following day.

When I got there, the greeting was less friendly. The man I spoke with, "Manager," scowled at me and had me sit down before pulling out this tool that looked like a nail trimmer. It told him that they were my natural nails and he quickly replied "It's to get the polish off." And he commenced digging and peeling the polish from my nails. Now, I'm no expert, but the last time I had Shellac (which was my only time prior to this "experience") the top layer had go be gently buffed, then a cotton ball with nail polish remover was wrapped onto the nail with aluminum foil. It was advised that peeling it was not ideal for the nails. But hey, I thought different salon, different techniques. Now I see why. My natural nails originally started off healthy; now they are splitting and chipping, and my nail beds are messed up. (insert angry face here) Thanks a lot, Spirit Nails; you sure know how to take care of your clients...
