Have been going to magoos for a while and also treated good there! Pleanty of nice tables with fresh felt. Weekly and monthly tournaments along with a weekly pool league! Magoos is well staffed and hospitality out the wazoo! Live bands and great fun. Also have food and beverages beside the alcoholic! Also can play fooseball or Poker tourneys along with face Dominos tables! Also has a gentleman there that holds this boots thinking! But same money down there &

I have played many pool tournaments in the mid west area. Magoo's has been the most inconsiderate and unprofessional as far as how they treat some of their tournament participants. I have played one 8ball and two 9ball tournaments and my rating has changed four times. First was the 8ball tourney they rated me a seven speed, afterward was the monthly 9ball, they dropped me to a 6 speed. After winning some of my matches in the monthly 9ball tourney the director at the time, Chad, angerly spoke with me about my rating and allowed some of the other players that were still in the tourney to give their opinion and help vote on a rating to be given to me. Other people not involved were able to interject as well. My options were as follows: take my entry back -go home; play all of my matches over again; raise my rating to 8 speed -finish out the day; or one player even said stay as a 6 speed and good luck getting home. After being threatened and having my rating raised to 8 speed I could no longer focus on the game causing me to lose my next two matches 8 to 0, 9 to whatever. The next month I played the 9ball tourney again as an 8 speed. I was out in two losing 8 to whatever, and 10 to 3 drpping me back to a 7 speed. Keeping a review specific with out an explanation would only cheat the viewers out of knowing what they're in for at Magoo's, but, here is specific. Magoo's inhouse tournament directors struggle with knowing the proper way to handle the rating system. They also shouldn't allow anyone other than tournament officials NOT playing to decide what happens during play. Win, lose, or draw -a players rating after their first time in should never change during the tournament play. Magoo's could make future visits better by hiring skilled, knowledgeable, professional officials such as the house pro. Sorry... no stars for how you operate, one star for the menu, and one star for a clean pool room.
