We went in for a routine oil service and transmission flush. Well we barely made it out of the parking lot before coasting down the road, the transmission was slipping badly and would not drive 100yds down the road. A technician came, checked the fluid and said everything looks fine, sorry I guess you will need to call a tow truck. We had our vehicle towed to a transmission shop. Meanwhile we were forced to rent a car as we were on our way out of town on a cross country trip. What began as a routine service, to the tune of $300 was now getting very expensive. The cost of a tow and $700 for a week of car rental. A few hours after we had been on the road, the tranny shop calls to inform us the transmission was only 2qts low. That was good news, but now we had already rented a car and were well out of town. Meanwhile, we had been put in touch with the Jiffy Lube owner, Patrick Moore. My wife made several phone calls that day with 'Pat' and he seemed less than willing to believe anything we said or accept any responsibility. Which as owners of a small business ourselves, I can understand being cautious of those looking to take advantage or scam. However, the facts were that Jiffy Lube did not flush our transmission correctly, resulting in possible damage to our transmission and major inconveniences, costly ones. We made plans to meet 'Pat' at the transmission shop after our week vacation. We returned from vacation optimistic that our problems were solved and big 'Pat' was going to 'do right by his customers' as he later assured us. We met 'Pat' at the transmission shop, there was a little pow-wow with the expert shop owner, who flatly explained to 'Pat' that the only thing wrong was they did not fill the transmission correctly. This was beyond 'Pat's' belief, his technicians had triple checked the fluid level and there must be some 'black magic' involved as he said. However, he assured us he would take care of his customers. All we needed to do was email a copy of the receipts and a check would be sent overnight no problem. The next day I scanned the receipts and sent them via email. A week and no word, so much for an overnight check. After several unanswered calls, my wife was able to reach Pat and he claimed he could not see the receipts. We resent the receipts again and then the line went dead. Pat was no longer answering our calls. My wife stopped by the Jiffy Lube store several times and they promised to contact Pat. Finally, Pat answered our call. He accused us of lying to him the entire time. He was not going to reimburse us for any of our trouble or inconvenience, even though it all began with their mistakes. He called my wife a liar, told us he would only speak with us again through an attorney. Wow! Unfortunately Pat is the liar and the truth is he does not take care of his customers when his technicians make mistakes.
