My son Casey Bruder rented a unit (13) in March because he and his wife had to go to Texas to help her aunt take care of her elderly grandmother. We went to retrieve their possessions today and his 1800.00 bed, which was a Serta California King, and was not even a year old, was ruined from water damage because the roof leaked. There was mold all over it. The contract does say that the lessor is not responsible for ANY damage even though it is clearly no fault of their own. Now that Ithey have returned to Tulsa and need their belongings, they have no bed and no extra money to purchase one. My advice is if you rent a unit, buy your own insurance. they thought their things were safe, especially from water damage, but apparently they were not.
