My 2 dogs, a 105lb yellow lab and a 50lb golden retriever mix stayed at kennel nirvana for 15 days. We had a long vacation and my parents were going to watch our dogs since we just plain do not do kennels. The plan fell through when their dog got sick and they couldn't watch our dogs for our trip which was 3 weeks away. I looked at so many kennels I thought I was never going to find a place until I drove over the hills and through the woods to kennel nirvana. For the owner who thinks a dog would like a couch and a tv with a photo of you to stare at while he falls asleep, this is not the place for you. For the owner who thinks a dog wants to run and play all day long, sleep in his bed on the cool ground and go to the bathroom outside while being around other dogs with his same level of energy then kennel nirvana is the place for you. My dog Ralph (the big one) was happy and healthy when I picked him up and my dog Sandy (a shelter dog who had no confidence) was transformed into a confident, playful dog. They were taken care of and I felt they were very safe there. The owners are a delight and give you advice about things they noticed with your dog. We will be using them again and would without a doubt say kennel nirvana is the best place to bring your pets in Tucson.

We've used Kennel Nirvana twice now for our two dogs and we'll be booking again later this year for sure. We've tried many, many other kennel's in town and by far had the best experience at Kennel Nirvana. I really like their pick up/drop off hours, makes it much easier to get to early flights or drive back into town at the end of the day.



We have been very pleased with the care our dogs have been given as well. The owners are very good and keeping records of our dogs’ shots, they even remind us of what they need and when they are due! They ensure they have emergency contact info for the "just in case" scenarios and they truly seem to enjoy animals. As I said I've called and been to many kennels that keep your dogs caged up and charge you just to "walk" them. Kennel Nirvana's rates seem reasonable and I like that the dogs can play outside, they came home a bit dirty but at least I knew they were playing outside which is what we would prefer rather than being cooped up.



Our dogs also come back in good sprits; we noticed a positive difference after leavening at Kennel Nirvana for a few days as opposed to another kennel in town where they seemed depressed after the stay.



I like the family feel and am very comfortable taking our "boys" there again. I wouldn't be concerned about the other negative reviews; I would try it yourself and give them a fair chance.



The reason for the 4 out of 5 stars... Nothing is perfect; we always have room for improvement no matter how good an experience.

If you need to be coddled and flattered, and have the payment options explained multiple times, this is probably not the best place for you. If you want the best most professional pet care available this IS the best place for you and your pets. The Carlsons have cared for animals for many years and are recommended by veterinarians. This business is about the animals,their food and exercise and care. We have taken our various dogs to Kennel Nervana for close to tweny years, for a total of close to 40 stays. We have never had a problem with our dogs, who are our babies, or payment or anything. Our dog Molly, wags her tail and dances when told she is going to "camp". Don't take my word for it - Molly knows!

I would not go any place else as they have numerous exercise runs with swimming pools for the dogs. My dog got out to play for serveral hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening. He came home and did not smell like he had been in a kennel. I would recomend this kennel if you like the dog park situation, as they get to play with other dogs.

We've had 2 bad experiences here. In the first one the fact that payment is only received by cash or check was not clearly and consistently advertised, we found ourselves racing miles up the road to get cash at an ATM to spring our dog. The second time, was the same because of extra charges added at the end of our dog's stay. We were charged extra for 1 day of care, as well as a second feeding for our dog which was not listed on the website or discussed in reservation process. On the pick up day, no change would be given for cash paid, Glenn Carleton, owner called the sheriff when change was demanded, and we had to get exact change in order to complete the transaction. And no receipt or written charges were ever provided. When we received our dog she was underweight. Her rib, shoulder, and hip bones were visible. At no time were we notified of our dog's condition. This is irresponsible and shameful. We'll never take our dog here again.
