On the hottest day of the year my tenant calls up frantic that the AC for the house is out! I called a half dozen HVAC companies and only three could get someone there that day.

They were prompt, they showed up as and when agreed, and quickly fixed the AC for about 60% of what the others had estimated: e.g., a can of "stop leak" for a minor freon leak was $125 instead of $200 the other guys quoted; they didn't charge a minimum $100 in diagnostic service fees or $125 call out charge as the others wanted, they charged $75 for one hour of labor for TWO guys. They found two problems and fixed them both: replaced a bad startup capacitor, added freon, and put in the stop leak. I figured when they were done the bill would be $400-500; it was under $250. Last guy put in freon only and it cost me more than that!



And they charged me for freon by the pound like all the others have over the years, but they ACTUALLY WEIGHED THE CYLINDER before and after so I wasn't charged based on some estimate -- or made up amount. I have never seen a service guy do that before! So I put "honesty" high on the list of their attributes. (After the fact I checked with BBB and they have an A rating, with 0 complaints; it would be an A+ but they apparently haven't been in BBB long enough for that.)



They were smart guys, knew their stuff and made my day go a lot better than I or my tenant had expected. Go Agave, these are the AC guys you have always hoped would show up at your house.

Our AC stopped working right in the middle of a heat wave. Our house was like an oven. Our house was built in the 1980’s. So our house and our AC was about 30 years old. After 30 years of working fine, just my luck it brakes down when it is 110 degrees outside. After calling my Uncle who is the family handyman, I realized that instead of fixing the 30 year old AC, I should just replace it. He recommended Advantage Air Mechanical. My Uncle knows is stuff but because of the cost associated with a new AC, I thought I should at least get a few more bids from other companies. After having Advantage Air Mechanical and 2 other companies. I quickly realized that the AC guys from Advantage Air Mechanical were a grade above the other guys. The AC was installed 3 days later and now my family doesn’t have to sweet all day and night.

I had a problem with our AC unit a few days ago. I called three different companies. Advantage Air Mechanical quoted me the best price. The guy came over right away and fixed the problem fast. Not only did he fix it on the spot he did the job for less money than the original quote. Fast and friendly service for a good price. I will use them again. 5 out of 5 stars.

I had an issue with my A/C in mid June, I went through American Home Shield and they sent Advantage out. Took two weeks to get them here the first time. The very next day my A/C went out again. I called them, set an appointment, the technician never came. Called them again, set another appointment, but rain scared them away. Called, AGAIN, set another appointment. The technician came out, was here for 15 minutes and said, 'everything looks good, you shouldn't have anymore problems'. Three hours later, and my A/C went out AGAIN. They have an emergency hotline. They say there is always someone to speak with 24/7. WRONG! Called their emergency number four times today and nothing. No one to speak to, no technicians available. Not once did we get a call from AAM to say they received our messages either. Their customer service is terrible, they speak as if they don't care, and no one has made attempts to get to the bottom of the issue. and I'm stuck with them for now. Ugh.. We called to verify our appt. for a tech to come out on Wed 7/10/2013 at 1-3pm. AAM informed us that it has been moved to Thursday 7/11/2013! They did not call us to update us with the updated appt. Very unprofessional. We had to call them because we kind of expected that they would drop the ball if we weren't on top of it. After our service we will drop AHS because of their affiliation with this kind of company especially after reading plenty of reviews out there about AHS with AAM. AHS is obviously not taking the time to make sure their customers are taken care of.

Good service is hard to find. It is true that during the summer it is IMPOSSIBLE to get an ac company out at the drop of a hat. I have lived in Tucson for 30 plus years and I could say that I have had problems with an ac unit at least half of those years. I found Advantage Air on Google and I gave them a try, in 2006. I have been using them ever since. They have done great work for me and have always been honest. Do not have some crazy AAA Award Car Mechanic Flat Rate Pricing but instead have always been upfront and reasonable.



I just had them out to my home and felt compelled to call the owner and write some reviews for them. 6 years with no problems and outstanding work. They are a good solid local company and I appreciate the hard work.

i ordered an a/c install and air advantage was the cheapest and fit into our budget. i mean $3500 compared to $14000? there was no question. installing was quick and was nice to have a house that wasn't 100+ degrees. but within a month we started having problems. the unit would be on but wasn't pushing out cold air. i called the emergency line but no one answered and never got a call back. so the next business day i called again and couldn't get someone out for a few days. it was the beginning of summer so i understood that. on the day scheduled for them to come out i was working but my fiancee was home waiting. it was about 10 minutes before they were suppost to show up when i had to call them on my last break to make sure they were still coming. i was told they would be on their way in the next 30 mins. i've never had a repair man not call me when it's that close to the end of my schedule time to say they were running late.



when the repair man showed up he said the unit wasn't installed correctly and we needed a new breaker. he said he would return in the next day or two with the new piece and fix it. he never returned or call. he did show us that if it happened again just flip our master breaker and it would come right back on. less than 4 months and the unit has gone out 4 times. this is the fourth time and now our outdoor unit is completely not working. we've switched the breakers numerous times. taken what we can apart to make sure all wiring and switches are correct, checked the filter, exc. nothings working. called air advantage numerous times on the "emergency line" which is just an answering machine that i don't think anyone listens to, and i'm still waiting. my electrical bills have tripled dealing with all the problems from my unit. my unit is still under warranty but i think at this point we're just gonna call someone else to come fix what they've messed up and take legal action.



if you want a cheap unit install i'd go with them, but then be prepared to call someone else to come do the job correctly.

While no business is perfect, I had a positive experience. I too was sent to this business by AHS. I called on a Sunday and AHS contacted Advantage and they had a tech on the way Monday afternoon.

Yes it was hot in my house during the day (90+F), but I know some things take time. There are reviewers who complained about the length of time it took to get a tech out to their place. If it is the middle of the summer and they happen to be busy, can they help that? I would wonder about a company which COULD take me too quickly. There are companies out there (I won't mention names) that charge a lower service call fee, but attempt to make up for it by trying to sell me services I did not want or need and their repair estimate was higher!

In my case, it turns out the condenser fan was bad and the technicial replaced it on the spot. I have had previous experience with Advantage and they always have been able to fix the problem. I believe them to be a reputable and honest company. They do charge a service call fee, but it is deducted from the total repair bill if you elect to have them fix the problem.

Emailed AHS for air conditioning problem. Advantage Air Mechanical called me the next morning and the service tech was at my home by 1P.M. as promised. Told him the compressor fan was squealing. He agreed. Replaced it immediately. Gave me some air conditioning tips. Could not have been more impressed with everything. Service call fee was all it cost.

Avoid them. I will refuse any more assignments to them from my 3 home warranty's. They don't call for service, then when I follow-up and setup a service, they came late. Then when the problem was diagnosed and I paid my $60, and ask for a call the next day to schedule the repair (replacement) of the faulty, leaking component, I am told the paperwork is on the service managers desk and he will call be back after he returns from lunch. No call back, so after 2 more days still no phone call to schedule the repair (replacement), so I call and finally they say they can come next week, but that is too late due to business travel (which is why I tried to get it scheduled 3 days ago) so I ask to talk to the service manager and am told he is on the phone and will call me back when he hangs up. But just as before, nobody ever called me back, so I have to keep pestering them to try and schedule a mutually acceptable time when they aren't "too busy" to complete the job I already paid them for. Time for another BBB complaint. Customers should NOT have to keep calling a company to finish a job they already paid for! I see others have had similar experiences and just want to warn unsuspecting customers. After more than one week since opening a request on AHS, I have NEVER received a call from AAM and have called several times myself, but can't get any satisfaction.

Advantage Air is definitely someone you should call if you need your air conditioning fixed. They were able to squeeze us in a day early and even made it out to our house an hour before they said they would be able to. This was so helpful because it was 108 degrees so the sooner our air got fixed, the better. The tech had our air up and running within 20 minutes. He was able to explain the problem in terms I could understand. I would definitely use their services again, and reccomend them to anyone who needs their help!

After writing this review, I will file a complaint to the BBB. Not an honest company. DO NOT HIRE! I repeat... DO NOT HIRE! They will not fix the problem but instead, demand for the $60 co-pay, then sell you an uneeded service, i.e. (cleaning,etc), and if you do not give in to their selling tactics, they will leave without fixing the real problem. American Home Shield (AHS) contracted Advantage Air Mechanical who then dispatched a technician, Mike, who is supposed to fix my 10 yr old A/C-Heater located on the roof due to a burning smell coming out of the registers. Without even opening the panel (where the evaporator coil is located); Mike immediately concluded that the reason for the burning smell is that the evap coil is dirty and impacted and requires cleaning. The technician attempted to sell (my naive wife) an unnecessary service for $300! If Mike only took the time to open the panel, he should have seen that the evap coil is clean because I do the cleaning maintenance myself - quarterly! (Mike only opened the opposite panel where the blower motor is located at. I can immediately tell because of his oily finger prints he left on the panel). Mike also reported to AHS that there is no air filter installed in the return-air duct. This is so untrue and a total fabrication. The truth is Mike did not go inside my house and did not check the return-air duct filter. In fact, I have invested in the most expensive filter available in the market and that I change the filter monthly. I've always buy the 3M Filtrete High Performance filter for $20 each. I've also mentioned this to Mike and he told me that I am just wasting my money and instead 'advised me to buy the inexpensive $1 filters. I do not use cheap filters because dust particles passes through it that can possibly accumulate on the evap coils. Mike also came without the diagnostic tools. He just wrote on the service order that it needs a control board and "POSSIBLY" a Blower Motor. Mike based his diagnosis from what we reported to AHS (burning smell). Because my wife refused his unneeded cleaning service, he left and reported to AHS that the evap coil is impacted and no filter is installed in the return-air duct. As a result of his actions, AHS declined service to my A/C-Heater. I am now disputing Advantage Air Mechanical's false reporting. A very dishonest company. Next time I have a problem with my A/C, I will make sure to AHS not to contract Advantage Air Mechanical. They just damaged their own image.

I am having the same problem I am hearing in these reviews, Rude employees, I I called them to book an American Home Shield warranty appt on Thursday after not hearing from them. Appt was for Friday 4-6pm - no call, no show, and of course no one answering phones over the weekend even though their website claims they have a live person to talk to 24/7/365. Still waiting....

My family are thankful for Advantage Air. I want to thank Advantage Air Mechanical for the excellent job they did in installing my furnace and air conditioning system. They provided us with options that we could afford and a brand that we were comfortable with and preferred. We also love the savings on our uelectricity bills and gas bills. ANY company with unresolved BBB complaints should be used with caution!! Check their BBB page as I am not the only one who has had EXTREMELY sub-par service!



Advantage Air Mechanical was called out to fix a cooler that was not working. They did not fix the cooler and my tenant was forced to live in a house that did not have any cooling for the summer because Advantage Air Mechanical did not fix a simple problem. I filed a complaint to the BBB after trying to reach a solution with their customer service agents and they refused to refund my $60 even though they did not fix the actual problem. They argued that they fixed a broken water line and that was the only thing they were called out to fix. However, my tenant simply called for them to fix a cooler that was not working and had no way to know that the problem was the water line. However, in addition to the water line, the belt running the fan was too loose which meant that after Advantage Air Mechanical came out, the cooler was not actually fixed, which was their responsibility to ensure!!



BBB Complaint

Service provider came to home to fix nonworking evaporative cooler but cooler did not function properly after repair, with the average temp 95oF.

I use American Home Shield for my home repairs, especially when I am away and unable to do the repair myself. I was out of the country and had 3 tenants living in the house paying full rent. One of the tenants noted that the evaporative cooler did not run the way it used to, so we called a technician from Advantage Air to come and fix the cooler. The technician came on June 24, 2010 and my tenant paid him the $60 copay for the service and he left saying that the job was done. However, during the next weeks the house kept getting hotter until the average temperature was over 95 degrees during the day. My tenant refers to that summer as the "summer of hell" because of the intense heat. She promptly called another company to remedy the situation and replace the belt, which was too loose. After I returned I called Advantage Air to explain that their technician had not actually solved the problem and the customer service woman said there was nothing they could do and it was unfortunate that my tenants had to live in such an unbearable house. Both the repair and the customer service was unacceptable and since the company never fixed the original problem, it seems that I should not have to pay them for their services which led to a literally unlivable environment for my tenants.



They refused to refund the $60 copay and responded by saying that it was my tenant's fault for not calling back, even though she did call back several times. They further went on to say that we invented the problem of the loose belt and said that that problem didn't exist.

I had AAM come to my house because my unit was dead. The Service Technician that came to my house did a great job. He immediately realized what my problem was and he was able to get a quote from his office for the repairs. I had an event that I was hosting at my house and I could not afford to be in a hot house with 100+ people. They took my situation and made the best of it and they were out that day with a new compressor and a motor and they got me up and going. FAST SERVICE, DONE RIGHT

I had them come out and work on my air condition unit and I was very happy with their customer service. I was pleased with the service man that came to my home and I was even more happy when he told me how I could save money with a new thermostat. The price was below what I had thought and I even called around after he left and other companies were more. I could not have asked for a better experience. I will recommend them

I had AAM come to my home over the weekend and my house was hot!! I could not get a hold of my regular service company and I called AAM and they were very professional and even with a swamped weekend with all of their men working and fully booked: they were able to schedule me in and I was so very happy. The service man came to my house and the unit was all iced up and he was able to thaw it out and change my filter for me and get me back up and going. This company most certainly knows what they are doing. I am thankful that AAM came out and I can proudly say they are my new service company.

I'd give ZERO stars if I could for their ZERO service!!! I contacted my home warranty when my A/C went out. My Home Warranty Company assigned Advantage to do the repair. I too called Advantage (because I didn't want to wait for them to call me hours later!). They were rude and said they were busy. I called the morning of July 1st. They scheduled me for July 3rd between 5pm and 7 pm. Well, they called 5 minutes before arriving at my home to say they are on their way, leaving a messafe on my VM. I got home from work at 4:30 BECAUSE THEY WERE SCHEDULED 5-7pm, only to find a "sorry we missed you" not on the door with the time 4:20!!! I have called them numerous times, leaving messages. The Home Warranty company tried calling them only to reach their VM each time. I even text messaged the repair guy. We have already had to spend 3 days in a hotel because it is over 94-95 degrees in the house! NOW the home warranty company said Advantage won't be out on Sunday SO I have to wait 2 more days for Advantage to call me to reschedule. So 2 MORE days of hotel bills just till they can tell me how many more days to repair the A/C. ADVANTAGE AIR MECHANICAL IS PATHETIC !!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY !! NO SERVICE !! NOT ON TIME !! DO NOT SHOW UP DURING SCHEDULED TIME !! TOO LONG TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE !! This SORRY company should be responsible to picking up the hotel bill until they can get it repaired since it is THEIR fault they did not come as scheduled!

Great Service

Not sure what the previous poster is talking about but I had a fantastic experience. They came out to service my home's A/C and Heating system and they did a very thorough and exceptional job. The service technician and the dispatcher communicated clearly before they had come out and the technician was very prompt. The technician conducted a full system tune-up and gave me a quote on several items that should be cleaned to avoid future damage and break-downs and before I had authorized the technician to do the repairs I called three other companies to compare pricing and they were spot on. The technician was great, the pricing was great and the service was exceptional. Very happy and would recommend them to all persons in need of a/c or heating services.
