Went in for a $20 oil change and tire rotation. They checked other things out in my car and came back with $1200 worth of suggested fixes. They pushed really hard and tried to make it sound like my car could break down at any moment. I regrettably took some of their advice and had them replace my serpentine belt for $150 - total rip off by the way. I was worried because I had a huge road trip planned for the next day. I didn't want to take any chances. They gave me the old belt from my car. I took the old belt to another mechanic for a second opinion and they laughed in my face saying "That belt is fine." Now my car makes a new noise that I never heard before because a part of the power steering now rubs up against the belt. Didn't know I had that issue before because I just took it to get it's 100k mile check up. Once again, my car never made that noise before I took it to this shop. Moral of the story, they will up sell the hell out of you and totally take advantage of you. Don't listen to them. In fact, just go somewhere else.

I was billed for an alignment program, I did not request. The representatives at the store were very vague, rude and unfriendly.The company has a 'sale' buy 2 get 2 tires two weeks after I get my four tires, and Merchants will not honor the sale or discount anything from what I paid for the 4 tires. The amount of hidden fees and the HORRIBLE customer service proves this business operates under bad practices and obviously does not want to retain customers. If the entire staff took a basic 101 customer service course, I think the service might improve. If the store employees were honest about the charges and fully explained the invoice, I think more customers would return to this location. The store manager actually made the experience worse, which is a telling sign as to why the rest of the staff are so miserable. I will let anyone I know not to take their car to Merchants' in Towson, MD. I feel swindled.
