Note to Women: Do not go to this practice if you are breastfeeding and looking for help with Postpartum Depression or Postpartum Anxiety.

After I was given a prescription that was questionable with breastfeeding (they knew I was breastfeeding when I was given the prescription), I asked for them to change it within 5 minutes of leaving the clinic from my appointment, just enough time to Google the medication on my phone in the parking lot. They refused to change the prescription and then told me that I could not take the new prescription while breastfeeding. So the choices they gave me were to stick it out while trying to get more exercise, sleep, and etc (since this apparently "cures" PPD/PPA...um I think not) or to quit breastfeeding and get on medication.

Ladies, there are medications out there that are compatible with breastfeeding and will help you with PPD/PPA.

Dr Hale at Texas Tech University researches medications and breastmilk and has a great deal of information available to the doctors and to the public.

After finding their Infant Risk hotline, I was able to find a new doctor and provide them with the information from Dr. Hale's research and find a suitable medication that will help me with PPA and allow me to continue to breastfeed my child.

NEVER let a doctor try to convince you to "stick it out" without meds or to stop breastfeeding to take meds for PPD/PPA.
