Beware of being overcharged:
I scheduled a service appointment for Monday 9/14/20 to fix a leaking toilet at a rental property. When I called, I confirmed with the lady who scheduled my appointment that I would be charged $100/hour plus materials in 30-minute increments. There was a 1 hour minimum and payment was due at time-of-service, which I agreed to and was going to be paid by my tenant. The service window I was given for the plumber to arrive was 1:00pm-3:00pm. The plumber showed up on-time at 1:00pm, fixed the leak, and was done within 1 hour by 1:57pm when the tenant texted me a picture of the invoice that they had paid. The plumber charged my tenants for 2 full hours ($200) plus $25 for parts ($225 total) to “reset the toilet”. I called the Ganzel office immediately and expressed my concern that I was overcharged by at least 1 hour ($100). Joe, the owner, called me back the next morning and stated that I also had to pay for the plumbers “drive time” from their previous job and that it was “standard practice” to do so. I told him that information was never given to me when I confirmed the service charges which I would incur and that 1 full hour was even excessive to be claimed as “drive time”. I have had work done by other plumbers, including them, and “drive time” from the previous location was never included to be paid by the customer. Joe was unwilling to reach any resolution, compromise, or refund which is very disappointing since I have used them for various plumbing jobs over the years.
