Dr. Koltz grew up in Maumee and attended St. John’s Jesuit High School before entering Indiana University in Bloomington for his undergraduate degree. He returned home for medical school at UTMC before obtaining his Plastic Surgery training in New York and further training in Reconstructive Microsurgery at The University of Pennsylvania and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He spent 2 additional years performing clinical and basic science research in breast implant-related scar formation, body contouring after weight loss, cleft palate and congenital craniofacial malformations, breast rejuvenation procedures, abdominal wall reconstruction and hernias, pain control options during and after surgery, and education research for the future generation of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Koltz is an invited reviewer of several national and international journals, has written countless peer-reviewed publications and textbooks, has traveled extensively nationally and internationally to present research at prestigious meetings in the field, and mentored numerous students and residents over his early career.
