Wayne State University Physician Group's (WSUPG) Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is dedicated to preventing, diagnosing and treating disorders that may produce temporary or permanent impairment to Metropolitan Detroit and southeast Michigan area patients. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (also known as physiatry) is a branch of medicine relating to pain, dysfunction or disability resulting from issues with musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular or pulmonary systems. This specialty involves diagnosis and treatment of patients with painful or functionally limiting conditions, the management of comorbidities and co-impairments, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electrodiagnostic medicine and emphasis on the prevention of complications of disability from secondary conditions.
