He let us know in no uncertain terms that our job was not a priority. After being strung along for so long, we decided to cut our loss, pay him, and finish the job ourselves. No good recommendation here.

Took the initial payment at contract signing and never showed up. A simple job that I kept calling him to start with him promising to call back and never did. Useless operation period.

I was hesitant to call a contractor found on YP; however, after reading the reviews given here, I gave it a try and am very glad I did! Larry & his men performed drywall and painting work for us in a profession manner with fair pricing and attention to detail. I will be calling him back in the near future for wallpaper removal and painting. Highly recommended.

My fiance and I needed the ceiling redone in our 1950's home after a leaking roof had left ceiling and wall damage in one of the bedrooms. Previously we had had a very nice gentleman who did drywall and quoted us a number we were very sad to have to pay plus we would lose our alcove in the bedroom to drywall it. However, he recommended that we first try to find someone who did plaster. It was the kindest thing he could have done. So I got on the internet and started by looking for plaster repairmen in my area (Dearborn Heights). There was a short list but Cook's Plastering showed up then I googled reviews and was surprised to find one company with 8 5-star reviews (Cook's Plastering). I called and recieved a timely call back to schedule an estimate. Mr. Cook was punctual and well spoken his estimate was well below the cost of drywall and fit perfectly into our budget. Also, our appointment to have the work done was in less then 2 weeks! When Mr. Cook came over to do the work he was on time, quiet, so fast and very efficient. We barely knew he was there. When he was finished and showed us the room we were shocked at what he had done, by himself, and in such a short time. His work was amazing. Needless to say we asked for some business cards (which he never tried to push on us or even mention). I am so happy to have an "ace in the hole" so to speak for any future projects. Can't say enough about fairness of pricing and great customer service! Highly recommend! 03/30/2015

Larry and his team came out to repair drywall and plaster in our 1936 built home. The repairs were awesome and Larry and his helper were the most personable and kind people you could meet. Highly recommended!

Larry and team were out as promised and even came in on Sunday to take care of repairing and hanging new drywall as we needed to get the house ready quickly. Very professional and reasonable prices with quality service.

16 years ago they painted the inside of my home, and just last week did some wonderful plaster repairs of my home for a party. Professional, friendly, accommodating, punctual, returns calls quickly, solves the problem, was able to work on very short notice. Excellent.

I hired Cook's Plastering to repair my bathroom ceiling which was water damaged due to a leaky roof. Larry and his son were at my house the next day to repair the drywall and did an excellent job! They are honest, hardworking and very good at what they do. I found the pricing to be very reasonable. When the painter could not be at my house due to health issues, Larry stepped in and finished the job in a timely fashion and my bathroom looks brand new. I would highly recommend this company to anybody who needs drywall/plaster & painting work done on their home.

I've had Larry and his son replace plaster in my 1920s bungalow two different times. Once in June 2011, and just recently in October 2012. Both times they repaired the plastered perfectly. You cannot tell at all where their replacement work starts and stops. The work blends seamlessly with the existing surrounding plaster. They seal themselves inside the work area with floor to ceiling plastic, so there is minimal dust left behind. Their prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend. Note: they accept cash/check only, half down in advance, and half upon job completion.

I hired Larry to fix some plaster around a window that I had enlarged and to cover an opening where an air conditioner used to be after I had the masonry repaired on the outside. Total charge for the work was $600. Larry promised that the plaster would be paint ready and smooth, corner beads used on the exposed edges of the window opening and a generally professional job. Instead of this, I got this uneven mess with cracks all over that had to be redone.
Two inexperienced kids show up at my house to do the work. They used common nails to attach the plaster board. No tape was used on any of the joints. After the plaster was applied to the plaster board, there were high and low spots all over with the plaster sloping into the window opening instead of the plaster being square and flush. The air conditioning opening was the same thing - cracks on both sides with a large bulge in the center.
I complained to Larry about this and his solution was to come out three additional times and continue to apply additional coats of plaster to try to even things out. Instead of trying to cover up what was already a bad job, it should have been removed and Larry should have started over. What I got instead was a wall with a section that stuck out from the rest that is completely visible from any angle and was still uneven. The cracks formed almost immediately along the joints where no tape was used.
I was also surprised that Larry sent his crew out without proper equipment. They had no work lights - instead they were using mine that I already had by the new opening. When Larry came back to ""fix"" the initial job, he was using my six foot straight edge to make sure things were straight. He didn't bother to clean the plaster off it when he was done.
I should also mention that I got Larry's name from Angie's List. He was rated very well there but I have to believe that, after my experience with him, that the reviews were not genuine.
Don't bother with this guy. He is certainly not a professional. The job was so bad, anyone could do a better job themselves - even if you are all thumbs and have no home improvement experience. Save yourself the time, money and frustration.

I can say enough about the PHENOMENAL job Cook's Plastering did on the lower level of my home! I started with a different plastering company who promised to have my lower level completed in 4 days. Unfortunately 4 days turned into 3 weeks! My lower level was a complete mess on December 10 and no where near completion (which was due in the next 3 days). Cook's Plastering came to assess my situation right away, quoted the work that needed to be done and ahow up at 12 noon on Friday to get started. They were able to complete the job by Sunday at 12 noon! It looks absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend this company for any renovation work for any home!
