I am a single mom who just moved to California from St. Louis, Missouri with my ten-year-old daughter and because we are new to the area, we have not opened a bank account, yet. I received a check for a freelance job I am doing for a company back in Missouri; the check was from UMB Bank and although it is a large, well known banking institution, there are no UMB Banks in California so I was at a "halt" trying to figure out a way to cash the check. I had never been to a check cashing/payday advance location before but decided it was worth a shot since I owe bills that were due "yesterday" and there was no way I could hold off for the nine day hold a bank would place on the out of state check upon opening a new bank account. I tried many places...most of them were disgusting, smelled of feet and the people working there were incredibly rude. I was told, time and time again, that because it was an out of state check, they couldn't help me. They wouldn't even call UMB Bank or the company with whom I am working for to verify the check; rather, they did not want to take the time and brushed me aside...until I went to Royal Payday Advance in Tarzana, California. It's upstairs in a small 7-11 strip mall off of Reseda Blvd. close to Ventura Blvd. There were no lines to wait in but honestly, I expected to be turned away again with my daughter by my side; however, that's not what happened at all! The man behind the window was so kind and understanding. He did not judge me; he did not disregard my situation. instead, he took the time to actually call the business back in St. Louis who had written me the check to verify it and then - yikes - realized that they had forgotten to sign the check! Instead of blowing me off, he spoke to them, informed them of their mistake and instructed them to overnight me a new check...one that was signed...and he would cash it. And that's exactly what happened - I went back in with a new signed check (and there was a woman there with him this time who was equally kind and smiling) and within five minutes, I walked out of there with my cash minus a mere 3% which is nothing compared to the effort they took to help me out. I have never even written a review for ANY business in my life until now - they really saved the day and their extra effort literally resolved what could have been a very messy situation for my daughter and me. Thank you, Royal Payday Advance, for getting us back on our feet - you really saved the day and you have absolutely no idea how many problems you just solved for us! I wish every business operated with the same morals and care for its customers - you truly stand apart from the rest!
