Founded by a group that included Francis Cleveland, the youngest child of President Grover Cleveland, the Barnstormers Summer Theatre had its first production, The Ghost Train, in 1931. It is the oldest professional summer theatre in the United States. In 1999, the company finished a renovation project and became a year-round facility. The theatre has a 28-foot proscenium stage. Barnstormers Summer Theatre is equipped with a balcony and holds a capacity crowd of 282. The playhouse produces eight productions during July and August each year. From September to June, the facility is available for rental for concerts, drama and dance performances, talks and community events. Barnstormers Summer Theatre is located in Tamworth, N.H.
