My cat, Baron, had surgery in January 2010 at VSS per my regular vet's recommendation. Baron had a medially luxating patella on his back right leg. They examined him, took xrays, and diagnosed his problem as actually being a problem with his hips that caused the MLP and that his left side was actually worse than his right side as far as the xrays were concerned. Since he was only having problems with his right leg, they said that was the one they would operate on. Baron was so stressed that his surgery had to be delayed and further testing done to ensure he was okay. IWhile frustrating having to put him through all of the testing, it was good they erred on the side of caution - false alarm due to stress. He had to stay overnight after surgery, which neither Baron nor I liked, but they have staff there all night who responded to my check-up calls. Baron's leg is completely normal, and healed quickly and fully. 4 stars instead of 5 because I couldn't visit him overnight :(
