We went on a weekend for a relaxing nature type experience and found the river was over-crowded with others floating/swimming. It was hard to get our boat through some places because so many were stopped, going nowhere. Some had multiple boats tied together in blocking wide areas. Most of them were in the 'under-grad' age group; drinking beer, smoking cigarettes, yelling, playing loud music. I complained about the rowdiness and was told by Peyton's Place staff 'the float trip there has been a party experience since they opened in 1968. Not a good nature type experience really, but OK if you are a beer drinker I guess. We won't go back.

Loved it.so relaxing! We went the weekend after labor day a couple years ago.it was wonderful.there were only a few others floating.they said labor day weekend was packed so we were glad we had the river to ourselves.water was low especially near the end of trip we had to drag the canoe in one spot.we tipped over once and same thing the second time we went.it was at a right bend and there is a large tree limb at the bend.the only way to miss it is if you know where its at.we didnt loose anything.the people running the paytins place were very nice.
