After having received instruction from other martial arts schools, this one is tops! The Head Instructor is highly trained in TaeKwon Do, and really knows how to teach. This school would be an excellent choice for any one of any age.



There are specific classes just for beginners, and for various levels of progression through the ranks of TaeKwon Do. The training and classes for 1st Degree Black Belt and higher are exceptional in the level of detail made available to the students.



This school prominently displays the International TaeKwon Do Federation Concepts of Good Students and the Concepts of Good Instructors, and they live by these. If you want to start or continue in martial arts, this is the place.

Great Lakes Global Taekwon-do is an amazing school. I have been training there for a while and the people are really nice but really really good. The instructor and her sons have won over 20 medals in other countries. They also won overall team in England out of 40 different countries. What is really cool is they don't beat you up like some schools I've been to. They teach you how to be good with out going all out on you, but they are still tough enough on you to make sure you can handle yourself. They also really focus on the art as well. I love this school and can't think of joining another.

This is definitely a Toledo-area gem. The head instructor is very hard-working, talented, courteous, respectful, and welcoming. It still astonishes me that this national and international award-winning school is here, and I am very proud to attend it. Try it. You won't be sorry.

I highly recommend this school in the learning of taekwon do. Carol Van Zile and her son John create a family oriented learning environment that enriches students in the art of taekwon do. Young and old alike come here for classes to train for tough international competition or just as a leisure activity. You will certainly feel welcome.

Great Lakes Global Taekwon-do has changed mine and my two childrens lives. I highly recommend training at this school. It is a wonderful school to learn the art of Taekwon-do. My children have learned to respect others and be courtesy. A teaching that will follow them for the rest of their lives. They have developed wonderful friends and have expressed to me on numerous occassions that the members of the school are a part of our family. My son is almost 10 and has been training since he was 5. My daughter is 12 and last year became active in training as well. The instructor at the school is a wonderful influence on each and every student. My greatest impression of how the school is ran will be the most memorable in the years to come to both of my children as well as myself. There has been many medals won at a National and World competition level. There are many opportunities for students to train, compete and excell as an individual and as a team.

Excellent school! Great Lakes Global has teachers and students that have won international awards in competition, yet maintain a very local family feel to the school. Everyone is accepted and encouraged to excel in the art of taekwon-do. Age or handicap is not a factor here. If you are looking for a school for the very real art of taekwon-do in northwest Ohio or southeastern Michigan, THIS IS IT!
