Welcome to The Horner Group, LLC opened in 1998. We were aware of the stiff competition in the Phoenix Metro Area, but we believed the vehicle we would bring into the market place, was a safer, more user friendly and priced competitively with retro fitted golf cars for neighborhood transportation. The neighborhood electric vehicle (N.E.V.) is a street legal vehicle as per the Federal Department of Transportation, for use on any street in the United States posted 35 mph or less. The Gem (Global Electric Motorcar) N.E.V. is equipped with safety equipment that is not found on retro fitted golf cars. The Gem vehicle is equipped with independent front suspension, 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, front wheel drive, safety glass windshield, windshield wipers, 3 point retractable seat belts, and a speedometer. You will not find a lot of these features on a standard golf cart. Historically, golf cars were manufactured to operate at a slow speed on golf course. However golf cart owners have found many other uses for their carts. By law, street legal modifications had to be made, such as increase speed to be competitive with street traffic, head/tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, rear view mirror, horn and windshield. After all the street legal modifications, golf carts still lacked the safety features such as brakes, seat belts, shatter proof safety glass windshield, and independent front suspension.
