I am just visiting the area for some training and saw their was a ton of restaurants down on El Comino Real so I headed down there. That was when I saw a Truck on the road advertising H Butler's Bar Bq. I pulled them up on my YP app and saw Dr Wolf's 2 star review however after reading it, he seemed to really like it but was unlucky with some burnt food. I watch Guy Fieri a lot and because of his Triple D show, I will give "dives" a chance now. When I walked in, the menu said "Soul Food" and I was getting more confident in my decision. I ordered a Tri-tip and Brisket combo and it was amazing.. I also got the baked beans, potato salad and corn bread and everything was great. I left their stuffed because I couldn't let any of it go to waste, it was that good. If I ever come back to this area again, I know where I am coming back. Great job Butler's....

I took my family to this restaurant last night for the first time to see what it is like to sample the Northern California barbecue. Well, this is what we found:



1. The restaurant was clean and well furnished.

2. There was both music and video, to me they interfered with each other as to drown each other out.

3. The menus presented to us were easy to read and understand but there was considerable sticker shock with the prices.

4. When our food arrived, mostly ribs, brisket, chicken and links were all over cooked to the point that they were burnt.

5. Some of the sides were very good except for the Cole Slaw and Candied Yams which were way to sweet for my taste.

6. The service was excellent so we gave a sizable tip.

7. We chose dessert: Red Velvet cake, 7-Up Pound cake and Banna Pudding with Vanilla Wafers. All of the desserts were off the hook and the portions were extremely large. I give these guys 5 thumbs up for the dessert.



I can tell you that eating over cooked or burned food is not a good experience especially when one can taste a hint of lighter or charcoal lighter fluid on the food. I would say to the owners of H Butler Barbecue to not take this as negative criticism but as constructive criticism which can help you improve your product.



If you charge me $100 for a meal I expect it to be darn near perfect in taste, presentation and smell, thank you for the experience.
