After decades of putting off the buying of my dream car, I finally purchased a 1972 MGB GT from New England Classics in November. My apprehension in buying an old car— and the reason I had put it off for so long—was that I know nothing about cars. What has always drawn me to them is not the mechanical but aesthetic appeal: how would I know if what I was buying was a "good" or "bad" car? I know if it looks good but that's just about it. Would buying a 40 year old car be something I would regret? If that sounds familiar to you I suggest you get in touch with Marc. How can you tell if a car is "good" or "bad"? The fact is—and this is perhaps stating the obvious—it is impossible for anyone to guarantee that a 40 year old car will be trouble free. Marc is very upfront about this. How could anybody know what a car has been through in 40 years? What issue— lying latent for 4 decades— might suddenly make an appearance tomorrow. Not even a new car that has rolled off a Korean factory floor can totally guarantee a trouble free future existence. You can however anticipate possible issues and make sure the car (and you) is as thoroughly prepared as possible. Marc, with his years of experience, can do that and does so with a team of talented mechanics. Whether is was a back-up device here or tips on what to do if...all things were considered and offered as advice: this makes a huge difference. From the moment I met Marc to the moment he sent me on my way with the beautiful MGB GT, he was always frank, uncomplicated and most importantly patient, fielding many of my naive questions on its mechanics and the like. His enthusiasm for these cars is genuine. My only concern now is, should I go back to Marc looking to add an MGA or TR6 to what might become a collection of—yes old—but beautiful cars.

They were patient and helpful with the process, resulting in me spending less than 5 minutes in the US Export Control office on the way home. Thanks again for your help there.

I wanted to let you know that the car arrived Friday afternoon and got it registered. I have spent today cleaning it up after its travel south and driving it around. The car is exactly as you described it. It is in amazing shape. I looks as if you changed out the carpet in the cabin compared to the pictures on your website. If so, thank you. I could not be more please with the car overall. If you have the paperwork from the previous owners, I would like to get it so I can keep the history of the car intact. Thanks again for all the work you did, and making this a reality of owning an MGB again. I will be telling everyone where I go this beauty from.

Just thought I'd drop you a few lines to let you know how wonderful my MGB experience has been over the past 13 months.I renewed my confidence in the tires and wheels by replacing them with new Vredesteins and new wire wheels. I recently had a heaterbox leak, turned out to be the hose from the valve to the box,so I replaced that hose and it's cooresponding hose from box to pipe with minimal difficulty.'Course I rebuilt the SUs last September, changed the oil and coolant, and she's runnin' well.I'm delighting in twisting a spanner again,a pleasure I couldn't do with my '97 Carrera without a laptop or lift.Cost of parts have been laughingly inexpensive! For thirty years my work bench was the size of a childs school desk, about 2 square feet, but I had my brother-in-law build me a proper work bench covering the entire rear of my garage and half way up the side. I'm rockin' now! Just wanted to share this experience with you. Thanks for turning me into a British roadster nut.

Your description of the car was spot on. New England Classic's approach to customer satisfaction was professional in every way but you were at times able to maintain a 'personal touch' which is so very important to a classic car buyer. I look forward to working with you again in the future and will be sure to recommend your fine organization to my collector friends. Keep up the Great Work!

The MGA has been doing great here in NJ. Have put about 500 miles on it over the summer with some long 2 hour drives to morristown and back.... they were absolutely right cruise all day at 60mph. It does especially well in the cooler weather we have been having over the hot / humid weather.

thanks again to you and your crew for all the help and hard work. I had one of the best days ever seeing my father with the car. I got to drive it a bit, and must say, I'm hooked. I see the appeal of British Roadsters! I imagine I'll be getting one for myself soon enough.
